A Low-Cost Approach to Diode-Pumped Ti:Sapphire Lasers With Watt-Level Output

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
We report a continuous-wave Ti:sapphire laser with an output power of 1.03 W, achieved with two low-cost single-emitter diode pumps, both of blue wavelength (448 and 468 nm).

Cells Dynamically Adapt Their Nuclear Volumes and Proliferation Rates During Single to Multicellular Transitions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
It is currently not well understood how cells regulate basic properties, e.g., volume and mechanics within dense multicellular environments like tumors. Here, we show that different cell types of cancer and also normal cells largely decrease their nuclear and cellular volumes in emerging cell clusters and that this is partly driven by cell cycle shifts.

Quasi-continuous-wave diode-pumped microchip yellow–orange lasers with peak power over 100 W

open access: yesHigh Power Laser Science and Engineering
We present quasi-continuous-wave (QCW) diode-pumped yellow–orange microchip lasers based on cooperative multi-phonon coupling and self-frequency doubling in Yb3+-doped YCa4O(BO3)3 crystals.

Multiparametric Bioresorbable Sensor for Doxorubicin Detection via Molecularly Imprinted Synthetic Receptors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biodegradable molecularly imprinted polymer porous silica sensor enables dual optical readout of doxorubicin via fluorescence and effective optical thickness shifts. The combined transduction mechanisms provide enhanced reliability and quantitative accuracy over clinically relevant concentrations, representing a step toward transient implantable ...

High Power 780 nm Broad-Area DFB Laser With Narrow Spectral Width

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
The 7xx nm laser diode is the core pump source for Diode Pumped Alkali Vapor Laser (DPAL). For these applications, high power and narrow spectral width are essential.

Seedless One‐Pot Synthesis of Colloidal InAs Quantum Dots Enabling a High‐Accuracy Photoplethysmography Oximeter

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A real‐time, non‐contact photoplethysmography (PPG) system based on InAs colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) synthesized via a seedless injection synthesis is demonstrated. The measured oxygen saturation shows considerable agreement with commercial PPG devices.

Synergistic Pyro‐Phototronics and Structural Anisotropy in CsAg2I3/GaN Heterostructures for High‐Performance Polarization‐Sensitive UV Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The development of polarization‐sensitive ultraviolet photodetectors is limited by poor heterojunction quality and low polarization sensitivity. This study integrates synthesized CsAg2I3 single crystals with intrinsic non‐centrosymmetry into van der Waals heterojunction devices, demonstrating pronounced pyro‐phototronic effect.

Suppressed Auger Heating of Hot Carriers in Cu‐Doped Colloidal Quantum Wells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Auger heating represents a major bottleneck for hot carrier (HC) relaxation in colloidal quantum wells (CQWs), delaying carrier accumulation in band‐edge states and diminishing performance in light‐emitting applications. To address this issue, we introduce copper doping in CdSe CQWs to create midgap states, which efficiently suppresses Auger ...

Semi‐Transparent Organic Photodiodes with Near‐Infrared Detection Fabricated by Inkjet Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows the inkjet printing of semi‐transparent and opaque organic photodiodes that enable light detection in the near‐infrared regime. Their transparency and high detection speed make them ideal for applications in soft robotics, wearable devices, and light communication systems.

Diode pumped Nd:YAG laser development [PDF]

open access: yes
A low power Nd:YAG laser was constructed which employs GaAs injection lasers as a pump source. Power outputs of 125 mW TEM CW with the rod at 250 K and the pump at 180 K were achieved for 45 W input power to the pump source.
