The tensile behaviour of marble at failure is analysed. A series of monotonic and cyclic bending tests were carried out in the laboratory on geometrically similar specimens of different size. The strain distribution was monitored with strain gauges and laser interferometry techniques. Three and four point bending configuration were considered.

The Pull‐Out Problem in Restoring Marble Fragments: A Design Criterion Based on Experimental Results
For the development of innovative connections for the restoration of the integrity of structural elements of ancient stone temples, it is imperative, among others, to understand the reasons of the ‘pull-out’ phenomenon.

Natural Time Analysis of Acoustic Emissions in Double Edge Notched Tension (DENT) Marble Specimens
An alternative solution to the problem of early detection of upcoming catastrophic fracture of structural elements made of marble is proposed. The solution is founded on the hypothesis that unique and hidden dynamic features of complex systems could be ...
