The response of either intact or fractured and restored marble architraves under bending is the object of the present paper. The study is motivated by the needs of the scientists, working for the extensive restoration program of the Parthenon Temple on the Acropolis of Athens, for an in-depth knowledge of the stress and strain fields developed in ...

The Pull‐Out Problem in Restoring Marble Fragments: A Design Criterion Based on Experimental Results
For the development of innovative connections for the restoration of the integrity of structural elements of ancient stone temples, it is imperative, among others, to understand the reasons of the ‘pull-out’ phenomenon.

A Marble Table Support with the Figure of Dionysos in the Uşak Museum
AdalyaThe subject of this study is a table support (trapezophoros) with the figure of Dionysos in the Uşak Museum. Although the exact findspot of the artifact is unknown, it was produced in accordance with a sculptural tradition that developed within the region of Phrygia during the Roman Imperial period.

The tensile behaviour of marble at failure is analysed. A series of monotonic and cyclic bending tests were carried out in the laboratory on geometrically similar specimens of different size. The strain distribution was monitored with strain gauges and laser interferometry techniques. Three and four point bending configuration were considered.

Dionysos d'Ici et Dionysos d'Ailleurs
This time, it is through the pictures of the symposion that Dionysos lets himself revealed. We are aware of the imagery of the symposion through frequently encountering it ever since its early pictures with their black figures.
