Tubular cathode prepared by a dip-coating method for low temperature DMFC

open access: yes, 2006
A novel tubular cathode for the direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) is proposed, based on a tubular titanium mesh. A dip-coating method has been developed for its fabrication.

3D Printing of Stretchable, Compressible and Conductive Porous Polyurethane for Soft Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable porous dopamine‐polyurethane acrylate elastomer results in conductive, stretchable, and compressible structures that can be metallized in situ through catechol‐mediated silver reduction. The resulting material function as both compliant soft robot with a and strain sensors without complex assemblies, enabling fully 3D‐printed soft ...

Super-liquid-repellent thin film materials for low temperature latent heat thermal energy storage: a comprehensive review of materials for dip-coating

open access: yes
When discharging latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) systems, performance is influenced by the formation and adherence of a solid layer of phase change material (PCM) on heat eXchange (HX) surfaces.

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.

Investigation into laser re-melting of inconel 625 HVOF coating blended with WC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
High velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying of Diamalloy 1005 powders mixed with WC particles onto steel (304) is considered and laser re-melting of the resulting coatings is examined.

Magnetic Textiles: A Review of Materials, Fabrication, Properties, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Magnetic textiles (M‐textiles) are emerging as a programmable materials platform that merges magnetic matter with hierarchical textile structures. This article consolidates magnetic material classes, textile architectures, and fabrication and magnetization strategies, revealing structure–property–function relationships that govern magneto‐mechanical ...

Investigating the use of dip-coating and angle dependent dip-coating for deposition and synthesis of CZTS thin films for use in PV applications

open access: yes, 2019
CZTS thin films were synthesized, with fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) on soda-lime glass (SLG) as a substrate, by means of dip-coating and angle dependent dip-coating.

Impregnation and Bonding of Hybrid Wood-Based Materials in Automotive Body Shell

open access: yesBioResources
The behaviour of wood-metal composites was evaluated during cathodic dip coating, which is a standard corrosion protection process for metals in automotive engineering. In this process, the materials are exposed to chemical and thermal stresses, which is
