Dip-coating of suspensions [PDF]
Withdrawing a plate from a suspension leads to the entrainment of a coating layer of fluid and particles on the solid surface. In this article, we study the Landau-Levich problem in the case of a suspension of non-Brownian particles at moderate volume ...

Drying Dip-Coated Colloidal Films [PDF]
We present the results from a small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) study of lateral drying in thin films. The films, initially 10 μm thick, are cast by dip-coating a mica sheet in an aqueous silica dispersion (particle radius 8 nm, volume fraction ϕ(s) = 0.14). During evaporation, a drying front sweeps across the film.

Effect of Alloying Elements on the Fluidity of Liquid-Phase Zinc [PDF]
The fluidity of liquid-phase zinc not only directly influences the casting properties of the alloy but also has a very important significance for the control of hot-dip galvanized coating thickness.

Improvement of Weldability of Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel by Anti-Galvanizing Coating with Si-Fe-Al Oxide-Based Micropowder [PDF]
A Si-Fe-Al ternary oxide-based micropowder coating was used to prevent the formation of a Zn coating on steel during the hot-dip Zn galvanizing process to reduce the welding fume and defects generated during the welding of Zn-galvanized steel.

Dip coating of bidisperse particulate suspensions [PDF]
Dip coating consists of withdrawing a substrate from a bath to coat it with a thin liquid layer. This process is well understood for homogeneous fluids, but heterogeneities, such as particles dispersed in liquid, lead to more complex situations. Indeed, particles introduce a new length scale, their size, in addition to the thickness of the coating film.

Dip coating in the presence of a substrate-liquid interaction potential [PDF]
In this work we investigate theoretically the Landau-Levich problem of dip coating in the presence of a strong interaction potential normal to the substrate.

Interferometric monitoring of dip coating [PDF]
Dip-coated films, which are widely used in the coating industry, are usually measured by capacitive methods with micrometric precision. For the first time to our knowledge, we have applied an interferometric determination of the evolution of thickness in real time to nonvolatile Newtonian mineral oils with several viscosities and distinct dip ...

Changes in properties of hot-dip zinc coating resulting from heat treatment [PDF]
This paper analyses the heat treatment of the hot-dip zinc coating deposited on both cast iron and steel. The aim of research is to increase coating hardness and wear resistance without decreasing its anticorrosion properties.
