Experimental study of substrate roughness and surfactant effects on the Landau-Levich law [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this work we present an experimental study of deviations from the classical Landau-Levich law in the problem of dip coating. Among the examined causes leading to deviations are the nature of the liquid-gas and liquid-solid interfaces. The thickness of

Advancing Electronic Application of Coordination Solids: Enhancing Electron Transport and Device Integration via Surface‐Mounted MOFs (SURMOFs)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of coordination solids, enabled by the surface‐mounted metal‐organic framework (SURMOF) platform, is on the cusp of generating the organic counterpart of the epitaxy of inorganics. The programmable and sequential SURMOF protocol, optimized by machine learning (ML), is suited for accessing high‐quality thin films of ...

N-b-Hydroxyethyl Oleyl Imidazole as Synergist to Enhance the Corrosion Protection Effect of Natural Cocoyl Sarcosine on Steel

open access: yesCorrosion and Materials Degradation, 2022
To investigate the corrosion protection behavior of naturally derived cocoyl sarcosine in combination with N-b-hydroxyethyl oleyl imidazole for steel CR4 in 0.1 M NaCl, different evaluation systems (weight loss, electrochemical measurements, and spray ...

Electrowetting-Induced Oil Film Entrapment and Instability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We investigate the spreading at variable rate of a water drop on a smooth hydrophobic substrate in an ambient oil bath driven by electrowetting. We find that a thin film of oil is entrapped under the drop.

Dip‐Coating of Self‐Assembled Monolayers for Perovskite Photovoltaic Applications

open access: yesEcoEnergy
Self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) have received increasing interest in the application of perovskite photovoltaics (PV). However, the deposition of SAMs in most of the studies rely on spin‐coating, which is impractical for upscaling applications.

Adsorption of 2,2 '-dithiodipyridine as a tool for the assembly of silver nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Silver nanostructured thin films stabilized by 2,2’-dithiodipyridine (2dtpy) were prepared. The Ag nanoparticles were obtained by treating the complex [Ag(2dtpy)]NO3 with NaBH4 in a methanol–toluene mixture.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Surfactant effects in the Landau–Levich problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this work we study the classical Landau–Levich problem of dip-coating. While in the clean interface case and in the limit of low capillary numbers it admits an asymptotic solution, its full study has not been conducted.
