The value of sprayed aluminium for the protection of iron and steel is now widely recognised in the building industry. It has also been shown that a high degree of protection is afforded by hot dip aluminised coatings, which have excellent resistance to both corrosion and heat.

Dip-coating of aluminium by lead

A theoretical approach shows that lead only wets the aluminium surface if the latter is completely free of oxide.
