The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF-3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity. [PDF]
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Dipeptidyl-peptidase I does not functionally compensate for the loss of tripeptidyl-peptidase I in the neurodegenerative disease late-infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis [PDF]
LINCL (late-infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis) is a fatal neurodegenerative disease resulting from mutations in the gene encoding the lysosomal protease TPPI (tripeptidyl-peptidase I). TPPI is expressed ubiquitously throughout the body but disease appears restricted to the brain. One explanation for the absence of peripheral pathology is that in

Cellular locations of proteinases and association with vesicles in
We found that locations of arginine-specific gingipain (RGP) in the cellular fractions in the crude extract, envelope, vesicles, and culture supernatants were 48%, 16%, 17%, and 31%, respectively, and the corresponding values of lysine-specific gingipain

Abstract In recent decades, microbiome research has progressed profoundly from exploring microbial diversity to uncovering host-microbial-isozymes (HMI). The understanding of the implications for human health of one such HMI, microbially derived dipeptidyl peptidases, remains limited, despite their structural and functional similarities
