The phonetic boundary between monophthongs and diphthongs in Suzhou Chinese
The dialectologists have argued whether some vowel sounds in Suzhou Chinese were diphthongs or monophthongs for many years. However, there were no objective methods for judging whether a vowel sound was a monophthong or diphthong.
