Evidence for diploidy and mating in trypanosomes
Nature, 1980The question of whether any sexual process takes place at some stage of the life cycle of the trypanosome has often been raised and crosses between different drug-resistant strains have provided no convincing answer. Multinucleate forms of trypanosomes have been observed by electron microscopy but their significance and origin remain obscure.

Diploidy and repair of radiation damage in saccharomyces mutants
Mutation Research/Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis, 1973Abstract Diploid wild-type cells of Saccharomyces and cells homozygous for one of the single genes r s 1 , r s 2 of the two alleles of the r s 3 gene (rad 2 gene) were tested for their response to ionizing irradiation in the presence and absence of oxygen. Both immediate and delayed plating (agar-holding) techniques were used.

Haploidy, Diploidy, and Polyploidy
1980Haploidy is a general term for designating individuals or tissues (in mosaics) that have somatic cells with a gametic chromosome number (n).

GENETIC EVIDENCE FOR DIPLOIDY IN EQUISETUM
American Journal of Botany, 1986Sporophytes and gametophytes of Equisetum arvense, E. laevigatum, and E. telmateia were analyzed using enzyme electrophoresis to estimate isozyme number. Despite their uniformly high chromosome numbers (2n = 216), these three species exhibited isozyme numbers typical of diploid seed plants for the enzymes AAT, ADH, ALD, GDH, [NADP]IDH, LAP, MDH, [NADP ...

Diploidy in second trimester prostaglandin E2induced abortuses
Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health, 1980Second trimester abortuses induced by prostaglandin E2 were karyotyped. Twenty (11.9%) had chromosomal aberrations. These were diploid aberrations except for one case of double Y male. Twelve, however, were genetically balanced chromosomal rearrangements, and two had deletions of acrocentric G group chromosome short arms which should have no phenotypic

Independent origins of diploidy in Metarhizium.
Mycologia, 2018In fungi, stable diploid genome arrangements are rare. Here we present evidence from nuclear intergenic DNA sequencing, microsatellite genotyping, and configuration of the mating-type locus to demonstrate two independent origins of persistent diploid genome organization in the Metarhizium majus species complex.

The coexistence of haploidy and diploidy in yeasts
