Biology of a New Cercaria for Posthodiplostomum minimum (Trematoda: Diplostomidae)

The Journal of Parasitology, 1967
Snails, Physa halei Lea, from Madison County, East Texas, shed strigeid cercariae in large numbers. Adult Posthodiplostomum minimum (MacCallum, 1921) Dubois, 1936, were recovered from chicks force-fed metacercariae obtained from both natural and experimental infections of fishes.

First report of adult specimens of Sphincterodiplostomum musculosum (Digenea, Diplostomidae)

Parasitology International, 2006
Sphincterodiplostomum musculosum Dubois, 1936 (Diplostomidae, Diplostominae) was originally described on the basis of specimens collected from the intestine of agami heron, Agamia agami (Gmelin) (Ardeidae), in Mato Grosso, Brazil. The original description of this species was brief because it was based on a few immature specimens.

Molecular prospecting for European Diplostomum (Digenea: Diplostomidae) reveals cryptic diversity

International Journal for Parasitology, 2013
We believe this study is the first attempt to address molecular prospecting for species diversity of Diplostomum (Digenea: Diplostomidae) in Europe. A database linking sequences from the barcode region of the cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (cox1) mitochondrial gene and from the internal transcribed spacer cluster (ITS1-5.8S-ITS2) of the rRNA gene was ...

Karyological Analysis of Two Species of GenusPosthodiplostomumDubois, 1936 (Trematoda: Diplostomidae) with Remarks on the Karyological Evolution of Diplostomidae

Acta Zoologica Lituanica, 1998
Chromosomal complements of Posthodiplostomum cuticola and P. brevicaudatum were studied using the air-drying technique and Giemsa staining. The diploid chromosome number for these species was 2n =20. The structure of karyotype of P. cuticola was: lst-5thA + 6th- 8th ST-SM + 9th SM + 10th SM-M.

Effects of cadmium upon longevity of Diplostomum sp. (Trematoda: Diplostomidae) cercariae

Chemosphere, 2002
Laboratory experiments were conducted to examine the impact of cadmium (Cd) on survival of Diplostomum sp. cercariae. Freshly emerged cercariae were exposed to Cd solutions at concentrations ranging between 0.2 and 200 microg/l. The mortality patterns and mean survival times (MSTs) of the exposed parasites were determined by the Kaplan-Meier estimator ...

Systematic Analysis of the Diplostomidae and Strigeidae (Trematoda)

The Journal of Parasitology, 1989
A systematic analysis of the genera in the Diplostomidae and Strigeidae was made using the Proterodiplostomidae as the outgroup. The Proterodiplostomidae was the family with the greatest preponderance of primitive characters and its monophyly was supported by the unique paraprostate gland.

Morphological and molecular characterisation of three Indian Neascus -type metacercariae (Digenea: Diplostomidae)

Parasitology International, 2017
Diplostomid digeneans are important parasites whose larval stages infect freshwater snails and fish as first and second intermediate hosts respectively. Diplostomid digeneans as adults are parasitic in many fish-eating birds and mammals. Our understanding of the species diversity of diplostomid digeneans remains incomplete, especially in the Indian sub-
