An extension of the Hamilton variational principle for piezoelectric bodies with dipolar structure

Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, 2022
Our paper deals with a mixed initial-boundary value problem in thermoelasticity of piezoelectric bodies with dipolar structure. It is considered the general case of a thermoelastic body which inhomogeneous and also anisotropic and we add the effect of ...

Implications of the Lagrange Identity in Thermoelasticity of Dipolar Bodies

Advanced Structured Materials, 2019
This paper is concerned with the mixed initial-boundary value problem in the context of the theory of thermoelasticity of dipolar bodies. We prove a uniqueness theorem and some continuous dependence theorems without recourse to any energy conservation law, or to any boundedness assumptions on the thermoelastic coefficients. This was possible due to the

An evolutionary equation in thermoelasticity of dipolar bodies

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1999
In this paper we apply the theory of semigroups of operators in order to obtain the existence and uniqueness of solutions for the mixed initial-boundary value problems in thermoelasticity of dipolar bodies. The continuous dependence of the solutions upon initial data and supply terms is also proved.

The dipolar field of rotating bodies in two dimensions

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2008
The fluid velocity far from a translating body in two-dimensional irrotational flow is generally dipolar. This is a classical result. Here we ask when the dipolar component vanishes. Lamb (1945, § 126) provides symmetry conditions on the virtual mass tensor for this to be the case.

A general theory of instability for dipolar thermoelastic bodies

Mechanics Research Communications, 1975
Criteria for determining stability and instability are often crucial in the design and evaluation of a system that is adequately modeled by means of a certain set of balance equations and constitutive postulates. However, such criteria are also valuable in the examination of the applicability of a model in describing a given material body.
