Polar Pore Surface of Polyamide Membranes Enabling Efficient Solvent Mixture Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 23, June 5, 2025.
A polyamide membrane with polar pore surfaces and relatively large pore is fabricated through interfacial polymerization between polyethyleneimine and trimesoyl chloride. Rapid separation of solvents with polarity differences is achieved by the synergistic effects of pore polarity and size sieving.

The Relative Angle Distribution Function in the Langevin Theory of Dilute Dipoles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
The Langevin theory of the polarization of a dilute collection of dipoles by an external field is often included in introductory solid state physics and physical chemistry curricula. The average polarization is calculated assuming the dipoles are in thermal equilibrium with a heat bath.

The sign of the dipole–dipole potential by axion exchange

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2017
We calculate a dipole-dipole potential between fermions mediated by a light pseudoscalar, axion, paying a particular attention to the overall sign. While the sign of the potential is physical and important for experiments to discover or constrain the axion coupling to fermions, there is often a sign error in the literature.

Distinctive Doping Behavior of Conjugated Polymers With Pendant‐Side Conjugation for Enhanced Thermoelectric Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 23, June 5, 2025.
Novel conjugated polymers with side‐chain π‐conjugation are developed to enhance organic thermoelectric properties. Remarkably, the pendant doping in the conjugated polymers preserved strong intermolecular ordering in the film states even at high FeCl3 dopant concentrations (16 – 32 mM), achieving a promising power factor > 10 µW m−1 K−2 across a wide ...

Observation of long-range dipole-dipole interactions in hyperbolic metamaterials

open access: yesScience Advances, 2018
Metamaterials mediate long-range dipole-dipole interactions between quantum emitters. Dipole-dipole interactions (Vdd) between closely spaced atoms and molecules are related to real photon and virtual photon exchange between them and decrease in the near

Minuscule Amounts of Pt Single Atoms Selectively Loaded on Minor (101) Facet of Anatase Crystallites Enables Outstanding Utilization Efficiency for Photocatalytic H2 Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ar–H2 annealing triggers redistribution of pre‐deposited Pt single atoms (SAs) on faceted anatase nanosheets, with selective SAs accumulation on the minor (101) facetsthus the co‐catalytic SA‐sites are positioned only where they are needed, i.e. at the electron exit facets.

Unveiling Magnetic Dipole Radiation in Phase-Reversal Leaky-Wave Antennas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The radiation principle of travelling-wave type phase-reversal antennas is explained in details, unveiling the presence of magnetic-dipole radiation in addition to well-known electric dipole radiation. It is point out that such magnetic dipole radiation is specific to the case of traveling-wave phase-reversal antennas whereas only electric-dipole ...

The Role of Fluorine‐Functionalized Organic Spacers for Defect Passivation and Low‐Dimensional Phase Formation in 3D MAPI Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fluorine‐functionalized organic spacers (2F, 3F, 5F) are investigated to identify as optimal passivation agents for 3D MAPI perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The study highlights how altering fluorine positioning affects defect passivation, low‐dimensional phase (LDP) formation, and stability, emphasizing its role in molecular interactions and offering ...

Over 18% Efficiency from Halogen‐Free Solvent‐Processed Polymer Solar Cells Enabled by Asymmetric Small Molecule Acceptors with Fluoro‐Thienyl Extended Terminal

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An asymmetric non‐fullerene acceptor BTP‐FT is developed by extending the end group of Y6‐BO with thiophene. The conformation of the molecule is determined by the noncovalent F···S interaction as demonstrated by 2D NMR and simulations. An efficiency of 18.39% is achieved in the resulting ternary solar cells processed from toluene.

Dipole-Dipole interaction in photonic crystal nanocavity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Dipole-dipole interaction between two two-level `atoms' in photonic crystal nanocavity is investigated based on finite-difference time domain algorithm. This method includes both real and virtual photon effects and can be applied for dipoles with different transition frequencies in both weak and strong coupling regimes.
