Dipole‐slot‐dipole metasurfaces [PDF]

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation, 2016
A complementary frequency selective surface (CFSS) can be formed on the basis of Babinet's principle. It consists of an array of slots separated from an array of dipoles by a thin dielectric substrate. This study shows that by adding an extra layer of dipoles to a CFSS capacitance can be added to the structure, which leads to a decrease in its resonant

The dipole repeller [PDF]

open access: yesNature Astronomy, 2017
In the standard (LCDM) model of cosmology the universe has emerged out of an early homogeneous and isotropic phase. Structure formation is associated with the growth of density irregularities and peculiar velocities. Our Local Group is moving with respect to the cosmic microwave background (CMB) with a velocity 631+/-20 km s-1 and participates in a ...

Dipoles in the sky [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2012
We perform observational tests of statistical isotropy using data from large-scale structure surveys spanning a wide range of wavelengths. Using data from 2MASS, 2MRS, and NVSS galaxies, and BATSE gamma-ray bursts, we constrain the amplitude and direction of dipolar modulations in the number count of sources projected along the line of sight.

Splitting of the dipole and spin-dipole resonances [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review C, 2001
Cross sections for the 90,92,94Zr(p,n) reactions were measured at energies of 79.2 and 119.4 MeV. A phenomenological model was developed to describe the variation with bombarding energy of the position of the L=1 peak observed in these and other (p,n) reactions.

Intermolecular Interactions: Dipole–Dipole, Dipole–Induced Dipole, and London Dispersion Forces [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Education, 2009
This Mathcad document introduces students to simple potential functions, which allows them to compare and contrast various intermolecular interactions. In particular, dipole–dipole interactions, dipole–induced dipole interactions, and London dispersion interactions are explored.

How Do Surface Polar Molecules Contribute to High Open‐Circuit Voltage in Perovskite Solar Cells?

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
To date, the improvement of open‐circuit voltage (VOC) offers a breakthrough for the performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) toward their theoretical limit. Surface modification through organic ammonium halide salts (e.g., phenethylammonium ions PEA+

The gravimagnetic dipole

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 2021
Abstract We investigate a previously constructed stationary solution of the vacuum Einstein equations, which represents a system of two non-extreme black holes with equal masses and opposite NUT charges, connected by a Misner string with tension.

Dipole–Dipole Interactions in Microtubules [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Physics, 2005
Dimers in microtubules possess a dipole moment with components along three axes. The interaction energy among all dipole components in a microtubule was calculated for an un-deformed and an elliptically deformed microtubule in a "dry" condition. The interaction energy was found to increase with deformation.

Fully Planar Dual-Polarized Broadband Antenna for 3G, 4G and Sub 6-GHz 5G Base Stations

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
A fully planar dual polarized radiating element with internal embedded coupled dipoles is presented in this paper. The inclusion of these elements allows achieving three different goals: firstly, an extension of the bandwidth towards lower frequencies ...
