A phylogenetic analysis of Dipsacaceae (Dipsacales) based on four DNA regions.

open access: yes, 2009
Abstract: Authors studied the phylogeny of Dipsacaceae using maximum parsimony and Bayesian analyses on sequence data from chloroplast (trnL intron, trnL-trnF intergenic spacer, psbB-psbH gene complex) and nuclear genomes (ITS1 and ITS2). Both data partitions as well as their combination show that Dipsacaceae is a monophyletic group.

Floral structure and systematics in four orders of rosids, including a broad survey of floral mucilage cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Phylogenetic studies have greatly impacted upon the circumscription of taxa within the rosid clade, resulting in novel relationships at all systematic levels. In many cases the floral structure of these taxa has never been compared, and in some families,

Long-term monitoring across elevational gradients to assess ecological hypothesis : a description of standardized sampling methods in oceanic islands and first results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We are launching a long-term study to characterize the biodiversity at different elevations in several Azorean Islands. Our aim is to use the Azores as a model archipelago to answer the fundamental question of what generates and maintains the global ...

Evolution of antagonistic relationships in proteins: a case study of RADIALIS- and DIVIRICATA-like genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The antagonistic relationship of proteins describes the opponent interactions that result in one protein suppressing the function of another. Developmental genetic studies of Antirrhinum majus demonstrated that two transcription factors from the MYB gene

Progress and problems in the assessment of flower morphology in higher-level systematics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Floral features used for characterization of higher-level angiosperm taxa (families, orders, and above) are assessed following a comparison of earlier (precladistic/premolecular) and current classifications.

Theligonum cynocrambe: Developmental morphology of a peculiar rubiaceous herb [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The annual Mediterranean herbTheligonum cynocrambe shows a peculiar combination of morphological characters, e.g., switch from decussate to spiral phyllotaxis with 90-100° divergence, combined with a change from interpetiolar to lateral stipules ...
