The Directional Effect of Detonators

Journal of the Forensic Science Society, 1968
Experiments have been conducted to determine the effectiveness of detonators in exploding gelignite placed short distances away. It was found that there was a marked directional effect along the axis of the detonator, probably due to propagation of a shock wave.

The Aerosol Direct Effect

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009
A hybrid data/modeling approach is applied to estimate global monthly distributions of total aerosol direct radiative effects and (anthropogenic) forcing. Despite strong regional variability, the annual global average impact of anthropogenic aerosol on climate is a weak cooling at about −0.2 W/m2 (as the radiative net‐flux change at the top of the ...

Direction of effects in mediation analysis.

Psychological Methods, 2015
Data collected in the social sciences are rarely normally distributed. The linear regression methods that are usually employed to test mediation hypotheses consider moments no higher than second order. Recently discussed methods of direction dependence do consider higher moments.
