A hybrid data/modeling approach is applied to estimate global monthly distributions of total aerosol direct radiative effects and (anthropogenic) forcing. Despite strong regional variability, the annual global average impact of anthropogenic aerosol on climate is a weak cooling at about −0.2 W/m2 (as the radiative net‐flux change at the top of the ...

Horizontal Direct Effect of Directives
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2015The concept of horizontal direct effect has gained prominence in recent years due to the importance it plays in lives of individuals who seek to enforce rights derived from the European Union (EU) law. Classic international law states that each State has the liberty to choose its “domestic law” as well as “international law”.

Direction of effects in mediation analysis.
Psychological Methods, 2015Data collected in the social sciences are rarely normally distributed. The linear regression methods that are usually employed to test mediation hypotheses consider moments no higher than second order. Recently discussed methods of direction dependence do consider higher moments.

Direct myocardial effects of cocaine
Cardiovascular Research, 1993The aim was to determine whether cocaine has a direct effect on the myocardium which is independent of coronary vasospasm.Cocaine was introduced into the perfusate of the isolated rabbit ventricular septal preparation in the concentration range 10(-5) to 10(-3)M while holding coronary flow of oxygenated Krebs solution constant at 3.0 ml.min-1 by a ...

THE EFFECTS ON QUALITY HAZELNUT OF DIRECTION
Acta Horticulturae, 1997This study was done for determination of direction effects on hazelnut quality at Espiye county (Giresun). Fruit samples were collected from 12 different gardens at same altitude and four directions. Several fruit characteristics such as fruit weight, kernel weight, kernel ratio, shell thickness, protein and oil contents were determined.

Direct antiatherogenic effect of garlic
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1996Blood serum of patients with documented coronary atherosclerosis induces intracellular cholesterol accumulation in a primary culture of human aortic intimal cells. Serum prepared from blood collected 2–4 h after administration of a tablet containing 300 mg garlic powder (Kwai, Germany) induces a much lower cholesterol accumulation in cultured cells.

The “disguised” Vertical Direct Effect of Directives?
The Cambridge Law Journal, 2000This paper addresses one aspect of the European Court of Justice’s troubled case-law on the direct effect of Community directives: the so-called “incidental effect” of unimplemented directives against private parties, and its uncomfortable relationship to the basic framework of legal principles so forcefully affirmed by the Court in Faccini Dori [1994]
