The Aerosol Direct Effect

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009
A hybrid data/modeling approach is applied to estimate global monthly distributions of total aerosol direct radiative effects and (anthropogenic) forcing. Despite strong regional variability, the annual global average impact of anthropogenic aerosol on climate is a weak cooling at about −0.2 W/m2 (as the radiative net‐flux change at the top of the ...

Direct antiatherogenic effect of garlic

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1996
Blood serum of patients with documented coronary atherosclerosis induces intracellular cholesterol accumulation in a primary culture of human aortic intimal cells. Serum prepared from blood collected 2–4 h after administration of a tablet containing 300 mg garlic powder (Kwai, Germany) induces a much lower cholesterol accumulation in cultured cells.
