Investigation of a hybrid system of nocturnal radiative cooling and direct evaporative cooling

Building and Environment, 2010
In this paper, the results of a study on a hybrid system of nocturnal radiative cooling, cooling coil, and direct evaporative cooling in Tehran have been discussed. During a night, the nocturnal radiative cooling provides required chilled water for a cooling coil unit. The cold water is stored in a storage tank.

Exergetic performance indicators of a direct evaporative cooling system with different evaporative cooling pads

International Journal of Ambient Energy, 2016
ABSTRACTExergetic performance indicators (EPIs) of a direct evaporative cooling system (DECS) with different evaporative cooling pads (ECPs) are presented. The objective is to determine the performance and exergetic sustainability indicators of three ECPs (wood charcoal, shredded foam latex and jute fibre).

Direct and Indirect Evaporative Cooling Strategies: An Analysis

Journal of Advanced Research in Mechanical Engineering and Technology, 2021
Evaporative cooling can be understood as natural response of human body to effective climate control. It is the similar to the cooling principle that human body practices when moisture/ sweat vaporizes and cools off the skin. Needing less energy input, evaporative cooling is perfectly fit for uses in which decreasing high temperatures as well as energy

The influence of chilled water on the performance of direct evaporative cooling

Energy and Buildings, 2017
Abstract In this paper, the performance of direct evaporative air cooling (DEC) was investigated with chilled water. This may increase the performance of DEC, especially in humid weather, as the air wet-bulb temperature reduces during the cooling process.

Theory of Direct Evaporative Cooling

1986
The theory of direct evaporative cooling owes much to Dr. Willis H. Carrier. His theory of adiabatic saturation and the standard psychrometric chart are its roots. One must know them to understand the operation of evaporative coolers.

Assessment of utilisation potential of direct evaporative cooling for India

International Journal of Ambient Energy, 2006
SYNOPSIS Hourly ambient temperature and humidity of 60 major cities of India were analysed to assess the utilisation potential of direct evaporative cooling for comfort conditioning. The hours with ambient wet-bulb temperature below 25°C, and tropical summer index above 25°C were considered as potential hours which can utilise direct evaporative ...

Experimental investigation on the application of cold-mist direct evaporative cooling in data centers [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermal Sciences
The rapid development of the internet era has driven the construction of numerous data centers worldwide. In hot climate, data centers consume significant energy for cooling. Cold-mist direct evaporative cooling offers a natural cooling solution that can

Correlation of Direct Evaporative Cooling Efficiency With Media Porosity

Volume 5: Energy Systems Analysis, Thermodynamics and Sustainability; NanoEngineering for Energy; Engineering to Address Climate Change, Parts A and B, 2010
. Energy consumption of HVAC&R could be reduced by integrating evaporative cooling device into air conditioning systems. Direct Evaporative Cooling (DEC) are suited for climates where the air is hot and humidity is low. In DEC, heat is absorbed whenever water is evaporated and converted to water vapor. By passing through or around a wetted surface,
