Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

SCREENING OF DOGS FOR RABIES VIRUS EXCRETION [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, 2009
Five hundred dogs, belonging to various categories viz., healthy (vaccinated and non-vaccinated), sick (vaccinated and nonvaccinated) and stray, were screened for the possible excretion of rabies virus in an enzootic area in Thrissur, Kerala.

Consequences of cell-to-cell P-glycoprotein transfer on acquired multidrug resistance in breast cancer: a cell population dynamics model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Cancer is a proliferation disease affecting a genetically unstable cell population, in which molecular alterations can be somatically inherited by genetic, epigenetic or extragenetic transmission processes, leading to a cooperation of neoplastic cells ...

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Lack of correlation between in vitro and within patient measures of P. aeruginosa biofilms in cystic fibrosis

open access: yesHeliyon
Current in vitro biofilm modelling of the opportunistic pathogen, Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) in people with cystic fibrosis (PwCF) is limited in its ability to mimic the complexities of the cystic fibrosis (CF) lung environment.

Advances in the design and development of oncolytic measles viruses. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A successful oncolytic virus is one that selectively propagates and destroys cancerous tissue without causing excessive damage to the normal surrounding tissue. Oncolytic measles virus (MV) is one such virus that exhibits this characteristic and thus has

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

NaLi-H1: A universal synthetic library of humanized nanobodies providing highly functional antibodies and intrabodies

open access: yeseLife, 2016
In vitro selection of antibodies allows to obtain highly functional binders, rapidly and at lower cost. Here, we describe the first fully synthetic phage display library of humanized llama single domain antibody (NaLi-H1: Nanobody Library Humanized 1 ...

New generation of electrochemical immunoassay based on polymeric nanoparticles for early detection of breast cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Screening and early diagnosis are the key factors for the reduction of mortality rate and treatment cost of cancer. Therefore, sensitive and selective methods that can reveal the low abundance of cancer biomarkers in a biological sample are always ...
