Quantifying microhabitat selection of snowshoe hares using forest metrics from UAS‐based LiDAR

open access: yesWildlife Biology, Volume 2026, Issue 5, September 2026.
Identifying the spatial and temporal scale at which animals select resources is critical for predicting how populations respond to changes in the environment. The spatial distribution of fine‐scale resources (e.g. patches of dense vegetation) are often linked with critical life‐history requirements such as denning and feeding sites.

Transitioning From Rice‐Wheat to Diversified Rice‐Based Rotations Enhances Rice Production and Mitigates Greenhouse Gas Emissions Across Asia

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Rice‐wheat cropping systems underpin food security across Asia but also represent major sources of agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Replacing wheat with diversified crop species to create alternative rice‐based cropping systems may become an effective strategy for sustainable production.

On the calibration strategy of medium format cameras for direct georeferencing

open access: yes, 2008
This paper presents an all-airborne approach for the geometric self-calibration of medium format digital cameras used in direct georeferencing. The motivation for this research was the problems of variation of distortion within the photographic field and high parameter correlations that can result from laboratory self-calibration.

Spatial Uncertainty in Plant Records: Implications for Research and Conservation

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Species occurrence data are fundamental to ecological research and biodiversity conservation, with primary inputs derived from natural history collections and their associated digital repositories. The reliability of such data is strongly dependent on spatial accuracy.
