Error model of direct georeferencing procedure of terrestrial laser scanning
Automation in Construction, 2017Abstract Processing of raw point cloud data obtained as a result of terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) sometimes involves georeferencing, i.e. transformation of point cloud data to an external coordinate system. This paper focuses on defining the error model of point positions obtained through a “station-orientation” procedure of direct georeferencing.

Direct Georeferencing of Ultrahigh-Resolution UAV Imagery
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2014Micro-unmanned aerial vehicles often collect a large amount of images when mapping an area at an ultrahigh resolution. A direct georeferencing technique potentially eliminates the need for ground control points. In this paper, we developed a camera-global positioning system (GPS) module to allow the synchronization of camera exposure with the airframe ...

Resection method for direct georeferencing in Terrestrial Laser Scanner
Journal of Mining and Earth Sciences, 2022Recently, the direct georeferencing method has been increasingly used in Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS). This method has the benefit of saving time, but the low accuracy is a great difficulty to use. This paper proposed a possible approach for direct georeferencing with high accuracy using the resection method.

A Comparison of Direct Georeferencing and GPS-supported AT
2006 IEEE International Symposium on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2006One of the major tasks in the evaluation process of photogrammetry is the determination of the exterior orientation. Direct Georeferencing (DG) and GPS-supported AT provide new methods for this task in addition to conventional AT. A test flight was performed with two methods DG and GPS supported AT.

A precise direct georeferencing system for UAVs
2014A georeferencing of the collected data is required for many unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based remote sensing applications in the fields of surveying, precision farming, infrastructure inspection or geography. This georeferencing can generally be done indirectly using ground control points, or directly using an on-board sensor system.

Impact of vertical deflection on direct georeferencing of airborne images
Survey Review, 2014This paper is aimed at analysing the influence of the vertical deflection (DOV) in direct georeferencing (DG) of image data from an aerial digital frame camera. Without considering the value of the DOV, a systematic error is involved in the determination of the point position.

Accuracy of direct georeferencing strategies to monitor geomorphological features
2022<p>Geomorphic systems face significant changes of climate, land uses, vegetation cover and socio-demographic characteristics. In this context, the accurate monitoring of geomorphological features may be a relevant tool to understand the consequences and the risks of these changes.

Direct georeferencing of airborne LiDAR data in national coordinates
ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, 2013Abstract The topographic mapping products of airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) are usually required in the national coordinates (i.e., using the national datum and a conformal map projection). Since the spatial scale of the national datum is usually slightly different from the World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS 84) datum, and the map ...

Accuracy analysis of MAMS data using direct georeferencing
2012 Second International Workshop on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Applications, 2012The conventional airborne photogrammetry is difficult to implement in some areas, such as marine, deserts, grassland and high mountain regions where the installation of ground control point (GCP) is dangerous or impossible. With the availability of integrated GPS and inertial measurement units (IMU), which are also called POS, this situation is ...

Direct georeferencing of ADS40 using calibrated POS data
2011 International Conference on Multimedia Technology, 2011The ADS40 is airborne three-line-push broom imaging sensor integrated with POS, which developed by L. H. Corporation. Due to the accuracy of POS, especially the accuracy of orientation cannot meet the requirement for large scale mapping. This paper provides mathematical model for POS data calibration using a few GCPs.
