Using Drones for Large Mammal Monitoring
Drones were used to obtain video data on animals and locations and distance from the midline was automatically determined by our pipeline so that the input for Distance sampling is generated. ABSTRACT Introduction The emergence of drones has profoundly transformed the field of large mammal monitoring, offering unprecedented capabilities for data ...

Decision Of EO Parameters Based On Direct Georeferencing Using SmartBase
Recently, it is a pretty well known way to compute GPS/INS using Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) and Network-based RTK for obtaining Exterior Orientation (EO) parameters of aerial photogrammetry. In this study, it is way to compute Exterior Orientation (EO) parameters using ground base stations, using Continuously Operating Reference ...

MaxEnt Projections of Climate‐Driven Distribution Shifts for Daphniphyllum calycinum in China
Using an optimized MaxEnt model, this study projects climate‐driven distribution shifts of Daphniphyllum calycinum, an ecologically and medicinally important subtropical tree in China. Results reveal that annual mean temperature and dry season precipitation primarily govern its distribution, with future warming scenarios projecting significant habitat ...

Eyespots in Automeris Moths Mimic Sympatric Owl Species (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae)
Eyespot mimicry is a common anti‐predator strategy in moths, yet the mechanism underlying its effectiveness in Automeris remains unresolved. Using species distribution models, convolutional neural networks, and saliency mapping, we show that Automeris eyespots are visually confusable with sympatric owl eyes and that this similarity is concentrated in ...

Direct Georeferencing in Aerial Photogrammetric Mapping
Aerial photogrammetric mapping is a well-established industry. Its methods have been evolving progressively but not explosively over many decades. Entrenched, reliable procedures have been developed to overcome pitfalls along the processing chain, allowing the delivery of high quality mapping products.

The Deadman River watershed (British Columbia, Canada) was severely impacted by the Sparks Lake Fire in 2021. Timelapse photogrammetry reveals sharp post‐fire channel widening and increase in migration rate. Through multispectral remote‐sensing analysis, these morphodynamic changes are related to burn severity affecting the watershed.

High‐resolution satellite imagery and UAV data enabled detailed morphometric parameter calculation, meander classification and multi‐epoch change detection for the Atrak River's meandering channel. Our results reveal rapid, episodic migration and a nearly tenfold surge in bank erosion triggered by the 2019 extreme flood, with persistent instability at ...

Direct Georeferencing with GPS in Terrestrial Laser Scanning
In this paper, a combined terrestrial laser scanning survey system is presented, where GPS can be used for direct georeferencing of the point clouds. The results of investigations of this system show that it is possible to achieve the coordinate accuracy of better than 1 cm in the point cloud, both in plane and height, at the object distance of up to ...
