Comparison of Direct and Indirect Georeferencing Methods Using Satellite Linear Array Iimages [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه علوم و فناوری فضایی, 2015
Comparison of direct and indirect methods for georeferencing of satellite linear array stereo images is proposed in this paper. In direct method, collinear condition and orbital elements are used for geolocation of pixels and ground control points (GCPs)

Methodology for the metric restoration of the historical cartography applied to Francisco Coello's cartografic series of the Royal Site of Aranjuez [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Hojas Kilométricas (Kilometric Sheets). Specifically, the study focuses on those sheets referring to the city centre and surrounding area of the Royal Site of Aranjuez, a town in the south of the Province of Madrid.

Habitat‐based spatial patterns enable realistic reconstruction of plant spatial arrangements across complex landscapes

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Spatially explicit individual‐based models provide a powerful way to explore spatial dynamics when direct observation is not feasible. But for many ecological applications, these models require detailed data on the initial spatial arrangement and traits of individuals – information rarely available in large, heterogeneous or novel landscapes.

Adaptive Re-weighted Block Adjustment for Multi-Coverage Satellite Stereo Images without Ground Control Points

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Georeferencing satellite imagery is the basis for mapping and other subsequent processing in photogrammetry and remote sensing. Traditional georeferencing methods, which require adequate and well-distributed ground control points (GCPs), are time ...

HIGH ACCURACY DIRECT GEOREFERENCING OF THE ALTUM MULTI-SPECTRAL UAV CAMERA AND ITS APPLICATION TO HIGH THROUGHPUT PLANT PHENOTYPING

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2020
. With the appearance of cost effective, easy to fly Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), a new type of data collection has been enabled: super high resolution multi-spectral, precisely georeferenced imagery and point clouds, collected over high value targets.

The Age and Origin of Block Deposits in the Victorian Alps, Australia

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Large periglacial block deposits are found in the mountains of southeastern Australia. Despite their widespread distribution, their mode of formation and age are poorly understood. These landforms hold considerable potential to shed light on the nature of cooling during glacial periods. In this paper we present a new study of block deposits in

Accuracy analysis of direct georeferenced UAV images utilising low-cost navigation sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also known as unmanned airborne systems (UAS) or remotely piloted airborne systems (RPAS), are an established platform for close range airborne photogrammetry. Compared to manned platforms, the acquisition of local remote

Flowering out of sync: Climate change alters the reproductive phenology of Terminalia paniculata in the Western Ghats of India

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Understanding how climate change impacts the plant life cycle is critical for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem services. Our findings suggest that Terminalia paniculata Roth, a common tropical deciduous tree species in the Western Ghats, is now flowering and fruiting at more scattered times than it used to in the past.

INTERACTION BETWEEN DIRECT GEOREFERENCING, CONTROL POINT CONFIGURATION AND CAMERA SELF-CALIBRATION FOR RTK-BASED UAV PHOTOGRAMMETRY

open access: yes, 2020
. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are enjoying increasing popularity in the photogrammetric community. The Chinese supplier DJI is the market leader with about 70% of the global consumer UAV market.

Herbarium digitisation sheds light on historical distribution and drivers of population extinction of a peat bog specialist

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Biodiversity loss threatens ecosystem services and human well‐being. Understanding the extent and causes of changes in biodiversity over time can help protect species and their habitats. Herbaria house carefully documented and curated specimens collected by generations of botanists.
