Direct Ink Writing of cylindrical lattice structures: A proof of concept

open access: yesOpen Ceramics, 2021
Printing curved lattice structures is a demanding task due to the current limitations in standard 3-axes printing technologies available in the market: a removable support structure often needs to be printed, and printing layer-by-layer to generate an ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Combination of chemical foaming and direct ink writing for lightweight geopolymers

open access: yesOpen Ceramics, 2023
In this work, the possibility of combining direct ink writing and chemical foaming to create geopolymer lattices with interconnecting porosity at different scales is investigated.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Direct Ink Writing Extruders for Biomedical Applications [PDF]

open access: yes2017 ASEE Annual Conference & Exposition Proceedings, 2018
There are many 3D printing processes using various printing materials for different applications. Among these printing methods, robocasting or direct ink writing (DIW) is suitable and mostly adopted for biology and biomedical applications. DIW is an additive manufacturing technique in which a filament of 'ink' is extruded from a nozzle.

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

An Acoustofluidic Capillary Nozzle for Programmable Microstructure Assembly in Direct Ink Writing of Flexible Conductive Composites

open access: yesMicromachines
The spatial organization of microscale fillers is critical for macroscopic performance, yet precise control over their distribution and orientation remains a major challenge in direct ink writing.
