Application Level Reordering of Remote Direct Memory Access Operations

2017 IEEE International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS), 2017
We present methods for the effective application level reordering of non-blocking RDMA operations. We supplement out-of-order hardware delivery mechanisms with heuristics to account for the CPU side overhead of communication and for differences in network latency: a runtime scheduler takes into account message sizes, destination and concurrency and ...

Fast Transaction-Level Model for Direct Memory Access Controller

Journal of Circuits, Systems and Computers, 2019
Transaction-Level Modeling (TLM) has been widely used in system-level design in the past few years. Simulation speed of Virtual Platforms (VPs) depends mainly on the transactions which are initiated by the Programmer’s View (PV) models of the VP devices. PV models are required to run at highest simulation speed.

Access order and effective bandwidth for streams on a Direct Rambus memory

Proceedings Fifth International Symposium on High-Performance Computer Architecture, 1999
Processor speeds are increasing rapidly and memory speeds are not keeping up. Streaming computations (such as multimedia or scientific applications) are among those whose performance is most limited by the memory bottleneck. Rambus hopes to bridge the processor/memory performance gap with a recently introduced DRAM that can deliver up to 1.6 Gbytes/sec.

Direct Memory Access (DMA)

2009
In this chapter we discuss the Direct Memory Access (DMA) functionality of the Cell architecture. Sender and receiver initiated DMA plays a significant role in program optimization. We present the DMA engine, fence and barrier concept for ordering data transfers. The DMA engine can be used as an additional data movement processor using dma-list. Double-

Reporting Recollective Experiences: Direct Access to Memory Systems?

Psychological Science, 1995
It has been suggested that the use of different memory systems can be identified by asking subjects whether they remember or know a recognized stimulus (e g, Gardiner & Java, 1990, Tulving, 1985) In this view, remember responses indicate the use of episodic memory, and know responses the use of implicit memory (e g, Gardiner & Java, in press ...

A shared virtual memory network with fast remote direct memory access and message passing

2004 IEEE International Conference on Cluster Computing (IEEE Cat. No.04EX935), 2005
The communication overhead has become one of the bottlenecks of SVM (shared virtual memory). Many methods have been taken to improve the performance of SVM. However, these can't obtain the improvement as expected. In order to get further utility of communication hardware and reduce unnecessary overhead, a prototype with the ability of RDMA is designed ...

Dynamic direct-access memory utilizing fiber waveguides

Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1985
It is suggested for the first time that fiber waveguides can be used to construct memory devices and the first prototype of such a device is described. The operating principles are presented and ways of constructing dynamic direct-access memory devices are considered.

On Reporting Recollective Experiences and “Direct Access to Memory Systems”

Psychological Science, 1997
Strack and F$oUrster (1995) showed that, unlike remember responses, know responses in recognition memory were influenced by manipulating response bias. We describe an experiment that replicated theirs but additionally allowed subjects to report guesses. Only guess responses were influenced by this manipulation.
