Particle trajectories under interactions between solitary waves and a linear shear current

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2020
: This paper is concerned with particle trajectories beneath solitary waves when a linear shear current exists. The fluid is assumed to be incompressible and inviscid, lying on a flat bed.

Рекомендации по ограничению динамических перенапряжений в обмотке ротора асинхронизированного турбогенератора [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, a Volume-of-Fluid (VOF)-based approach for the Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) of reactive mass transfer in gas–liquid flows is described. At the interface, local thermodynamic equilibrium is assumed and modelled by Henry's law.

Direct numerical simulation of turbulence on a Connection Machine CM-5 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
In this paper we report on our first experiences with direct numerical simulation of turbulent flow on a 16-node Connection Machine CM-5. The CM-5 has been programmed at a global level using data parallel Fortran.

Comparison of Subgrid-scale Viscosity Models and Selective Filtering Strategy for Large-eddy Simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Explicitly filtered large-eddy simulations (LES), combining high-accuracy schemes with the use of a selective filtering without adding an explicit subgrid-scales (SGS) model, are carried out for the Taylor-Green-vortex and the supersonic-boundary-layer ...

Direct Numerical Simulation Code Validation for Compressible Shear Flows Using Linear Stability Theory

open access: yesJournal of Aerospace Technology and Management, 2018
In order to simulate compressible shear flow stability and aeroacoustic problems, a numerical code must be able to capture how a baseflow behaves when submitted to small disturbances. If the disturbances are amplified, the flow is unstable.

Direct Numerical Simulation DNS: Maximum Error as a Function of Mode Number [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Numerical errors can be characterized in terms of algebraic polynomial approximation of a sine wave. The magnitude of the error will, therefore, depend on the energy at each mode in a Fourier expansion. Flows with a great deal of energy in the highest modes, such as Turbulence, are therefore the most difficult to approximate.

Direct Numerical Simulation of Packed and Monolith Syngas Catalytic Combustors for Micro Electrical Mechanical Systems

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Management: X, 2023
Abstract In this work, a catalytic combustor for micro electrical mechanical system for syngas was designed and analysed using Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) in conjunction with finite rate chemistry. The effect of catalyst (platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), palladium oxide (PdO), and rhodium (Rh)), bed type (packed with twelve catalyst
