Binocular Direct Ophthalmoscope

JAMA Ophthalmology, 1969
In the study of small areas of the fundus as the disc and macula, depth relationships may be of considerable importance. A binocular direct ophthalmoscope has been designed to accomplish such observation with greater simplicity than other techniques. The instrument produces a magnification of 15 times, an excellent stereoscopic effect, and is hand held.

Comparison between the Arclight Ophthalmoscope and a standard handheld direct ophthalmoscope: a clinical study

Current Developments in Lens Design and Optical Engineering XIX, 2018
The direct ophthalmoscope, a handheld device gives a highly magnified image of the retina. However, the sustainability of power source and cost are a limitation considering the usage demand. We compared a low-cost solar-powered Arclight ophthalmoscope with a standard ophthalmoscope Heine K180 in terms of ease of examination, usage, field of view, color
