Sickle Cell Disease Is an Inherent Risk for Asthma in a Sibling Comparison Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sickle cell disease (SCD) and asthma share a complex relationship. Although estimates vary, asthma prevalence in children with SCD is believed to be comparable to or higher than the general population. Determining whether SCD confers an increased risk for asthma remains challenging due to overlapping symptoms and the ...

Development of Direct Reduction Process and Smelting Reduction Processes for the Steel Production [PDF]

open access: yesKemija u Industriji, 2006
Although the blast furnace and basic oxygen furnace are going to be primary routes for steel production in future, the steelmaking industry using the electric arc furnace route will continue to grow.

Approximate perturbed direct homotopy reduction method: infinite series reductions to two perturbed mKdV equations

open access: yes, 2009
An approximate perturbed direct homotopy reduction method is proposed and applied to two perturbed modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equations with fourth order dispersion and second order dissipation.

Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

Limonite-hematite Composite High-phosphorus Iron Ores by Direct Reduction and Magnetic Separation

open access: yesKuangchan zonghe liyong
In order to achieve the efficient utilization of a certain limonite-hematite composite high-phosphorus iron ore, experimental research was conducted on the preparation of iron concentrate based on a direct reduction-magnetic separation process.

Personalizing the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship: Adapting Training for the Next Generation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The pediatric hematology‐oncology fellowship training curriculum has not substantially changed since its inception. The first year of training is clinically focused, and the second and third years are devoted to scholarship. However, this current structure leaves many fellows less competitive in the current job market, resulting in ...

A New Reduction from Search SVP to Optimization SVP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
It is well known that search SVP is equivalent to optimization SVP. However, the former reduction from search SVP to optimization SVP by Kannan needs polynomial times calls to the oracle that solves the optimization SVP.

Psychosocial Outcomes in Patients With Endocrine Tumor Syndromes: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The combination of disease manifestations, the familial burden, and varying penetrance of endocrine tumor syndromes (ETSs) is unique. This review aimed to portray and summarize available data on psychosocial outcomes in patients with ETSs and explore gaps and opportunities for future research and care.

On direct sums of reductive operators [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1974
An example is given to show that the direct sum of two (distinct) reductive operators need not be reductive. The conjecture that A ⊕ A A \oplus A is reductive if A A is reductive is shown to be equivalent to the reductive operator conjecture (every reductive operator is normal).

Nutritional and Behavioral Intervention for Long‐Term Childhood Acute Leukemia Survivors With Metabolic Syndrome

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a common complication in survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic and myeloid leukemia (AL), and a major risk factor for premature cardiovascular disease, type‐2‐diabetes, and metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
