Direct neighbor search [PDF]

open access: yesInformation Systems, 2014
In this paper we study a novel query type, called direct neighbor query. Two objects in a dataset are direct neighbors (DNs) if a window selection may exclusively retrieve these two objects. Given a source object, a DN search computes all of its direct neighbors in the dataset.

Direct Search Based on Probabilistic Descent in Reduced Spaces [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Optimization, 2022
In this paper, we study a generic direct-search algorithm in which the polling directions are defined using random subspaces. Complexity guarantees for such an approach are derived thanks to probabilistic properties related to both the subspaces and the ...

Optimal Radio Propagation Modeling and Parametric Tuning Using Optimization Algorithms

open access: yesInformation, 2023
Benchmarking different optimization algorithms is tasky, particularly for network-based cellular communication systems. The design and management process of these systems involves many stochastic variables and complex design parameters that demand an ...

Directed Search with Phantom Vacancies [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2020
AbstractWhen vacancies are filled, the job ads often remain, creating phantom vacancies. Older listings more likely represent phantoms. We assume job seekers direct their search based on listing age. Forming a match with an age‐a vacancy creates an age‐a phantom with probability β and generates an externality affecting vacancies aged a and older. Thus,

New methods for developing parallel algorithms of direct search in numerical optimization [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة التربية والعلم, 2013
The Purpose of this research is the development Direct Search Methods for minimizing the objective function; The Developed Methods reduces the approach time to the minimum through two techniques: 1) by reducing the number of function evaluation.

Derivative Free Optimal Thrust Allocation in Ship Dynamic Positioning Based on Direct Search Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yesTransNav, 2020
In dynamic positioning systems, nonlinear cost functions, as well as nonlinear equality and inequality constraints within optimal thrust allocation procedures cannot be handled directly by means of the solvers like industry-standardized quadratic ...

Direct Answers in Google Search Results

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This study aims to explore Google's new “featured snippet” (a direct answer that appears in web search results) to better understand the method of extracting and displaying such answers above regular ranked results.

Dark matter direct search sensitivity of the PandaX-4T experiment [PDF]

open access: yesScience China Physics Mechanics and Astronomy, 2018
The PandaX-4T experiment, a 4-ton scale dark matter direct detection experiment, is being planned at the China Jinping Un- derground Laboratory. In this paper we present a simulation study of the expected background in this experiment.
