Evaluation of Presswheels and Seed Coverers for Direct Seeding of Brassica

open access: yesHortScience, 1997
Improved stand establishment of direct-seeded crops has usually involved seed treatment and/or seed covers. Planters have been evaluated for seed/plant spacing uniformity, singulation, furrow openers, and presswheel design; however, effects of presswheels and seed coverers on plant establishment have not been widely investigated.

Seed-specific promoters direct gene expression in non-seed tissue [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Botany, 2004
The organ specificity of four promoters that are known to direct seed-specific gene expression was tested. Whereas the phaseolin (phas)- and legumin B4 (leB4)-promoters were from genes encoding 7S and 11S globulins from Phaseolus vulgaris and Vicia faba, respectively, the usp- and the sbp-promoters were from non-storage protein genes of V. faba.

Yield Responses of Direct-Seeded Wheat to Rhizobacteria and Fungicide Seed Treatments [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2002
Field trials were conducted with winter and spring wheat in eastern Washington and northern Idaho over several years to determine the benefit, as measured by grain yield, of seed treatments with rhizobacteria and formulated fungicides in cropping systems favorable to root diseases. The trials were conducted with wheat direct-seeded (no-till) in fields

EFFECT OF TRANSPLANTING DATES ON PRODUCTIVITY OF SOME SUGAR BEET VARIETIES IN THE NEWLY RECLAIMED LANDS UNDER SINAI CONDITIONS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Production, 2009
Two field experiments were conducted in 2003\2004 and 2004\2005 seasons in Gelbana village, El-Kantra Shark, Sinai to study the effect of transplants dates, namely 15, 25 and 35 days from sowing nursery compared with direct seeding (control) on ...

Clinical and Biological Features of Response in Resistant Neuroblastoma to 131I‐Metaiodobenzylguanidine Radiotherapy in the Anti‐GD2 Immunotherapy Era

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background 131I‐metaiodobenzylguanidine (131I‐MIBG) radiotherapy is a key treatment for relapsed and refractory (R/R) neuroblastoma (NB). Patients with R/R disease treated in the modern era are increasingly exposed to anti‐GD2 immunotherapy, which exerts selective pressure and may modify both tumor cell state and microenvironment.

Direct seeding of alfalfa in grain stubble and bromegrass sod

open access: yes, 1994
Direct seeding of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) is a valuable alternative to conventional seeding. However, yield and nutritive value of forage obtained in the seeding year by direct seeding are not documented for Eastern Canadian conditions.

Enhancing the Performance of Direct Seeded Fine Rice by Seed Priming [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2006
Higher water requirements and increasing labor costs are the major problems of the traditional rice production system. Direct seeded rice culture, growing rice without standing water, can be an attractive alternate. However, poor emergence and seedling establishment, and weed infestation are the main hindrances in the adoption of this culture.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Direct Seeding in Ontario

open access: yesThe Forestry Chronicle, 1970
The direct seeding programme in Ontario has increased from 80 acres in 1956 to a maximum of 11,135 acres in 1967.Seed is applied by a variety of methods including fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, snowmobiles and a variety of manual and mechanical equipment. All sites are prepared prior to seed application using mainly mechanical equipment such as ...
