Experimental validation of Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) model of vapour jets from high temperature sources

Vacuum, 2009
A 3-D Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) code has been developed to study the vapour characteristics of atomic species. This model needs to be verified with experimental results. Experiments have been conducted with free jet of copper using electron beam source and the flux distribution data have been obtained under different experimental conditions.

Particle-in-cell plus direct simulation Monte Carlo (PIC-DSMC) approach for self-consistent plasma-gas simulations

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 1999
The particle-in-cell (PIC) and direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) approaches have been combined into a PIC-DSMC model for self-consistent simulations of low-temperature collisional plasmas and the background gas. This novel approach is based on the weighting collision simulation scheme allowing for disparate number densities and time scales of ...

Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) on the Connection Machine

30th Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 1992
The massively parallel computer Connection Machine is utilized to map an improved version of the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method for solving flows with the Boltzmann equation. The kinetic theory is required for analyzing hypersonic aerospace applications, and the features and capabilities of the DSMC particle-simulation technique are ...

DSMC (direct simulation Monte Carlo) analysis of microchannel flow with gas–liquid boundary

International Journal of Computational Fluid Dynamics, 2006
High heat capacity and constant operation temperature make a 2-phase heat remover tool promising for solving high heat dissipation problems in MEMS devices. However, microscale analysis of the flow with the conventional Navier–Stokes equation is inadequate, because the non-continuum effect is important when the characteristic dimension is comparable to

The algorithm of gas dynamics problems solution by direct simulation Monte Carlo method (DSMC)

Proceedings. The 9th Russian-Korean International Symposium on Science and Technology, 2005. KORUS 2005., 2006
The algorithm and calculation results of gas flow in hollow cathode in vacuum chamber under gas discharge ignition are represented. The preliminary estimations show breakdown and ensuring ignition of smoldering discharge to be occurred, when the gas flow streaming from cathode reaches the anode with forming the area of the raised pressure.

A novel transient-adaptive subcell algorithm with a hybrid application of different collision techniques in direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC)

Physics of Fluids, 2022
A novel hybrid transient adaptive subcell (TAS) direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) algorithm is proposed to simulate rarefied gas flows in a wide range of Knudsen numbers. It is derived and analyzed by using a time and spatial discrete operator approach based on the non-homogeneous, local N-particle kinetic equation, first proposed by Stefanov.
