Influence of the direction of suture strands on the tensile strength after flexor tendon repairs
Journal of Hand Surgery (European Volume), 2023We assessed the influence of different directions of suture strands using the double Tsuge repair on the resistance to gap formation and mode of failure. In total, 25 porcine flexor digitorum profundus tendons were split into two groups. One group was repaired using a conventional double Tsuge suture created by two bands of looped suture placed ...

Direct Tensile Behavior of Normal-Strength Concrete at Elevated Temperatures
ACI Materials Journal, 2014The objective of this study is to determine the tensile properties of normal-strength concrete (NSC) at elevated temperatures through direct tensile tests. The specimens were cast in cylindrical cross sections with extended ends according to RILEM TC 129-MHT.

New proposed direct tensile strength test for concrete
2014The evaluation of the tensile strength and determination of the tensile stress-strain curve using indirect tests becomes approximate hence there is a necessity for exploring direct tensile strength measurement. This investigation is part of ongoing research on the development of direct tensile strength measurement. In this paper direct tensile strength

Laboratory Determination of Direct Tensile Strength and Deformability of Intact Rocks
Geotechnical Testing Journal, 2011Abstract The direct tensile strength and deformability are determined from dog-bone shaped specimens of intact sandstone, limestone, and marble by using a compression-to-tension load converter. The device allows a measurement of the rock elastic modulus and Poisson’s ratio under uniaxial tensile and compressive stresses on the same ...

Tensile strength of titanium matrix composites: direct numerical simulations and analytic models
International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1998A recently-developed model for the numerical simulation of tensile stress-strain behavior in fiber-reinforced composites is used to predict the tensile strength of a metal matrix composite consisting of a Ti-1100 matrix reinforced with SCS-6 SiC fibers.

Direct tensile strength of visible light-cured restorative materials containing fluoride
Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 2001The purpose of this study was to compare the fluoride release and direct tensile strength at 24 h, 1 month, and 3 months of two conventional glass-ionomers, two visible light-cured resin-modified glass-ionomers, a polyacid resin composite and two resin composites. The results were statistically analysed using ANOVA and Fisher's PLSD at alpha=0.05.

A novel experimental method for measuring the direct tensile strength of concrete
Materials TestingAbstract This study deals with the development of a load-converting device designed for measuring the direct tensile strength of the concrete. In this regard, a new testing technique based on a novel testing device and modified cylindrical (Ø 100 × 200) molds for the preparation of concrete samples is explained.
