Direct tensile tests on prismatic concrete specimens

Cement and Concrete Research, 1981
Abstract A new type of clamping grips for direct tensile tests on concrete is presented. The grips make it possible to use prismatic specimens without inducing stress concentrations of too high a magnitude and this significantly simplifies the manufacturing of specimens and the performance of direct tensile tests.

Direct tensile tests on particulate agglomerates for the determination of tensile strength and interparticle bond forces

Advanced Powder Technology, 2017
Abstract The importance of direct tensile tests on solid and capillary bonded particulate agglomerates is investigated and compared to compression test measurements. The properties of wet agglomerates are varied by changing the contact angle by means of functionalization of the particle surface.

Seesaw apparatus for direct tensile testing of ring-shaped rock

2023
Background technology In the realm of rock mechanics, a crucial requirement is the availability of an experimental apparatus for conducting direct tensile tests on rocks. In current assessments of rock material properties, a multitude of analytical tests are performed using diverse material testing machines.

Tensile test of dumbbell-shaped specimen in thickness direction

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016
Sheet metal forming is widely used in manufacturing shops, and evaluation of forming limit for sheet metal is important. However, specimen shape influences on the fracture of the sheet metal. As one of methods to decrease these effects, an uniaxial tensile test using specimen dumbbell-shaped in thickness direction had been examined using FEM analysis ...

New proposed direct tensile strength test for concrete

2014
The evaluation of the tensile strength and determination of the tensile stress-strain curve using indirect tests becomes approximate hence there is a necessity for exploring direct tensile strength measurement. This investigation is part of ongoing research on the development of direct tensile strength measurement. In this paper direct tensile strength

Direct Tensile Tests of Supercritical Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete

2021
Steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) becomes increasingly interesting for structural design and application. However, to reinforce structures just with steel fibres – not including any rebar – supercritical fibre contents are essential to ensure hardening behaviour in the post-cracking domain.

A Direct Tensile Loading Apparatus Combined with a Cubical Test Cell for Testing Rocks and Concrete

Geotechnical Testing Journal, 1985
Abstract A novel tensile loading apparatus is described, which when used in conjunction with an existing fluid-cushion cubical test cell, allows the simultaneous application of a pure principal tensile stress and transverse principal compressive stresses to concrete and rock specimens with a minimum of boundary constraints.

RING-SHAPED SPECIMEN FOR DIRECT TENSILE TEST MACHINE

Background technologyIn the field of rock mechanics, the most popular method for indirect tensile testing, such as the Brazilian indirect tensile strength test, involves using disc-shaped specimens to calculate the tensile strength of rock samples. However, during this testing procedure, researchers have observed the generation of compressive and shear

Direct Tensile-Shear Test (DTS) on Unsaturated Kaolinite Clay

Geotechnical Testing Journal, 2009
Abstract In this study, constant-water-content direct-tensile-shear (DTS) tests were performed on specimens of kaolinite clay using a new apparatus. Existing studies on strength of clayey soils consider soils subjected to tensile stress, compression-shear stress, or triaxial stress, but only few of them account for combinations of ...
