Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Direct Cancellation of Finite Groups

Algebra Colloquium, 2005
We prove that if F is a finite group, and G and H are finitely generated groups with finite commutator subgroups for which F × G ≃ F × H, then G ≃ H.

Acetoxyl Group Directed Cyclization Promoted by SmI2:  Directing Group Determined Stereocomplementarity

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2004
Complete reversal of diastereoselectivity was observed in the SmI(2)-promoted ketyl-olefin coupling cyclizations of the hydroxy ketone or aldehyde and its acetate. For example, the stereodivergent synthesis of the epimeric five-membered-ring alcohols 2 and 4 has been accomplished through the SmI(2)-induced ketyl-olefin coupling cyclizations of the ...

Directoids and directed groups

Algebra Universalis, 1995
\textit{J. Ježek} and \textit{R. Quackenbush} [ibid. 27, No. 1, 49-69 (1990; Zbl 0699.08002)] have introduced directoids as groupoids corresponding exactly to up-directed posets (viz \(a \leq b\) iff \(ab = b\)). In this paper, this concept is further investigated, both in its own and in combination with an abelian group structure.

Directed Intermolecular Carbomagnesation across Vinylsilanes: 2-PyMe2Si Group as a Removable Directing Group

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2001
Facile addition of primary alkyl Grignard reagents to vinylsilanes has been realized for the first time by exploiting the directing effect of a 2-pyridyl group on silicon [Eq. (1)]. Three-component coupling reactions of a Grignard reagent, the vinylsilane, and an electrophile, followed by oxidative removal of the 2-pyridyldimethylsilyl group with H2 O2

Future directions task group

ACM Inroads, 2013
Just about a year ago, John Impagliazzo asked if I'd be willing to form a task group to put together a report on the future of this magazine. I suspect he asked me for a couple of reasons. First, because I've been involved with Inroads for several years in a variety of capacities. Second, because I'm ridiculously organized.
