Direction finding in the presence of an intermittent interference

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2002
We consider the problem of estimating the direction of arrival (DOA) of a source in the presence of an intermittent jammer, i.e., a jammer that corrupts the signal of interest from time to time. This situation is encountered in slow frequency-hopped spread spectrum systems with partial time or partial band jamming.

DIRECTION FINDING OF ATMOSPHERICS

Canadian Journal of Research, 1935
The results of one summer's observation with a cathode ray direction finder and an automatic recorder to locate the bearings of atmospherics are given and discussed. It appears that storm areas or areas of low barometric pressure are responsible for many of the observed atmospherics.

Direction-Finding Antennas

1988
The purpose of a radio direction finder (df) is to measure the direction of arrival of a radio signal. Traditionally the azimuth angle of arrival, i.e., the angle of arrival in the horizontal plane, has been considered sufficient to define the ...

Direction finding antennas

1992
This chapter discussed the direction finding antennas having two classes to distinguish this. These are (i) Terrestrial or airborne types requiring omniazimuth but limited elevation coverage (ii) Systems for tracking space vehicles and radio stars where essentially hemispherical coverage is required.

Tactical Body-Worn Direction Finding

2007 IEEE International Conference on System of Systems Engineering, 2007
This paper discusses the body worn antenna vest (BWAV) development efforts at Southwest Research Institute that will enable the reception and DF of both narrowband and wideband signals while allowing for hands-free operations. A BWAV was developed consisting of two nested antenna arrays covering the frequency range of 30-3000 MHz.

Direction Finding by Sound

Nature, 1936
IT is a regrettable fact that some of our scientific activities have required the stimulus of war to initiate them and the fear of war to keep them alive. Not the least striking example of this impingement of military necessity on scientific research is afforded by the subject of direction finding by sound. During the Great War, sound provided the only
