High Resolution Estimation of Directions of Arrival

In this paper, we propose a novel system architecture that employs the flexible tree search based orthogonal matching pursuit (FTB-OMP) algorithm for direction of arrival estimation. It is shown by simulation results that the FTB-OMP algorithm has high estimation performance and resolution capability when compared to the MUSIC and OMP algorithms.

The effects of preprocessing on direction of arrival estimation

The authors propose two methods to estimate the DOA from records of pressure sensors deployed on the sea bottom. In this paper, we propose a new method called "Enhanced forward/backward spatial filtering (Enhanced FBsf)" to estimate the direction of arrival (DOA) of multiple narrowband coherent sources. This approach is a particular signal enhancement estimator that minimizes the effects of the sensor noise and improves significantly the source resolution.

Direction of arrival estimation by subspace methods

It is demonstrated that a Bayesian analysis can be simplified and can lead to a practical direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimator. This estimator is remarkably similar to the MUSIC algorithm, but has a threshold which is significantly lower than that for MUSIC. The reason for this improvement in performance is identified.
