Direction finding by sparse‐based approach for dual‐polarised conformal array in the presence of gain and phase uncertainties

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation, 2023
This article investigates the problem of robust direction‐of‐arrival (DOA) estimation with unknown sensor gain and phase uncertainties. A Dual‐Polarised Regularised Multiple FOCal Underdetermined System Solver is proposed to estimate the 2‐D DOA for the ...

Amplitude Only Direction of Arrival Estimation

open access: yes2023 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC), 2023
In this manuscript, we present a novel hardware concept for the estimation of the direction of arrival of electro-magnetic signals. An arrangement of two patch antenna arrays, tilted with respect to each other, is used to create a monotonic relationship between the DoA and the received power difference between both arrays.

Improving performance of direction-of-arrival estimation using sparse array in passive radar

open access: yesJournal of Algorithms & Computational Technology, 2020
A method based on sparse array is applied to direction-of-arrival estimation of passive radar in this paper to increase the number of resolvable sources and improve the direction-of-arrival estimation performance for coprime array.

Accurate Direction-of-Arrival Estimation Method based on Space-Time Modulated Metasurface

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2022
A metasurface-based Direction of Arrival (DoA) estimation method is presented. The method exploits the properties of space-time modulated reflective metasurfaces to estimate in real-time the impinging angle of an illuminating monochromatic plane wave ...

Prior knowledge-based direction of arrival estimation

open access: yes2011 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2011
In a number of direction of arrival (DOA) estimation applications there exists prior knowledge about the sources whose bearings are to be determined. We study the case when this prior information concerns some of the source positions and their correlation state, which is a relevant case in, for example, RADAR scenarios where stationary objects exists ...

Direction of Arrival Estimation of Sound Sources Using Icosahedral CNNs [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio Speech and Language Processing, 2022
In this paper, we present a new model for Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation of sound sources based on an Icosahedral Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) applied over SRP-PHAT power maps computed from the signals received by a microphone array.
