Maximum likelihood methods for direction-of-arrival estimation
IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1990Five methods of direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation which can be derived from the maximum-likelihood (ML) principle are considered. The ML method (MLM) results from the application of the ML principle to the statistics of the observed raw data. The standard multiple signal classification (MUSIC) procedure, called MUSIC-1, is obtained as a brute-force

Mirrored Arrays for Direction-of-Arrival Estimation
ICASSP 2020 - 2020 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2020A mirrored array configuration, which consists of an ordinary linear array and a reflector, is proposed. The mirrored arrays can provide composable degrees of freedom (DOF) for array processing by combined measurements with the help of mechanical adjustment (e.g., movement or rotation).

FOMP algorithm for Direction of Arrival estimation
Physical Communication, 2018Abstract Adaptive antennas and antenna array processing are much significant issues for improving the performance of wireless communication systems. One of the most important applications of adaptive antenna systems is the Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation.

Compressive wideband direction of arrival estimation
2015 38th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP), 2015Compressive Sampling (CS) has recently emerged as a groundbreaking technique which reconstructs the sparse signal using samples taken below Nyquist sampling frequency (sub-Nyquist samples). In this paper we consider to estimate the Direction of Arrival (DOA) of wideband signals using sub-Nyquist samples.

The effects of preprocessing on direction of arrival estimation
IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 1993Numerous authors have advocated the use of preprocessing (PP) in high-resolution direction finding algorithms. The optimal PP matrix is identified, in the sense that the accuracy of the direction of arrival estimates are unaffected by the preprocessing step.

High Resolution Estimation of Directions of Arrival
2005 IEEE 61st Vehicular Technology Conference, 2005In this paper, we propose a novel system architecture that employs the flexible tree search based orthogonal matching pursuit (FTB-OMP) algorithm for direction of arrival estimation. It is shown by simulation results that the FTB-OMP algorithm has high estimation performance and resolution capability when compared to the MUSIC and OMP algorithms.

Estimation of the direction of arrival of narrowband signals
Proceedings of Third International Conference on Electronics, Circuits, and Systems, 2002In this paper, we propose a new method called "Enhanced forward/backward spatial filtering (Enhanced FBsf)" to estimate the direction of arrival (DOA) of multiple narrowband coherent sources. This approach is a particular signal enhancement estimator that minimizes the effects of the sensor noise and improves significantly the source resolution.

Estimation of the direction of arrival of water waves
[Proceedings] ICASSP 91: 1991 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1991The direction-of-arrival (DOA) of water waves is an important design consideration for construction. The authors propose two methods to estimate the DOA from records of pressure sensors deployed on the sea bottom. These methods are based on broadband noise subspace and signal subspace multiple signal characterization.

On single snapshot direction-of-arrival estimation
2017 IEEE International Conference on Wireless for Space and Extreme Environments (WiSEE), 2017There are many algorithms for direction-of-arrival (DoA) estimation in array signal processing. Most of the work is carried out in scenarios with a large number of available snapshots. That is, received signals are sampled for a certain time duration. This paper focuses on worst case scenarios of having only one signal snapshot available, while trying ...
