Derivation of the third-order directional derivative
Pattern Recognition Letters, 1993Summary: We give an easy derivation of the third order directional derivative in the direction of the gradient of the intensity function. The obtained formula is a correction of the formula found by \textit{J. J. Clark} [IEEE Trans. Pattern Anal. Mach. Intell. 11, No. 1, 43-57 (1989; Zbl 0665.68066)].

International audienceWe provide an inequality relating the radial directional derivative and the subdifferential of proper lower semicontinuous functions, which extends the known formula for convex functions.

Direct Density Derivative Estimation
Neural Computation, 2016Estimating the derivatives of probability density functions is an essential step in statistical data analysis. A naive approach to estimate the derivatives is to first perform density estimation and then compute its derivatives. However, this approach can be unreliable because a good density estimator does not necessarily mean a good density derivative

Direct carboxyhemoglobin determination by derivative spectroscopy
Forensic Science International, 1989A fast and sensitive method for the determination of carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) in blood using derivative spectroscopy is described. The addition of sodium dithionite as a reducing agent is not required. The concentration interval studied was from 0.5% to 100% COHb.
