Underwater optical wireless sensor network [PDF]

open access: yes
The thesis details the development of a short range, multi-hop underwater optical wireless sensor network. Multi-hop underwater optical wireless communication using a line of sight (LOS) link can provide a greater range compared to a single hop ...

Watermarking for multimedia security using complex wavelets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper investigates the application of complex wavelet transforms to the field of digital data hiding. Complex wavelets offer improved directional selectivity and shift invariance over their discretely sampled counterparts allowing for better ...

Direct sums of injective and projective modules

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2010
The paper addresses the problem of characterizing the situation when an injective module is \(\Sigma\)-injective, previously studied by several authors. It is shown that the injective hull of a module \(M\) is \(\Sigma\)-injective if and only if each essential extension of \(M^{(\aleph_0)}\) is a direct sum of modules which are either injective or ...

Toward Fast Proton Shuttling in Acidic Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review establishes proton transfer dynamics as a descriptor governing acidic OER activity, moving beyond the kinetic constraints derived from the proton coupled electron transfer. We discuss how deprotonation governs classical mechanisms, including adsorbate evolution mechanism (AEM), lattice oxygen mechanism (LOM) and oxide path mechanism (OPM ...

About the Use of Adaptive Antennas in 60 GHz UWB-OFDM Personal Area Network Transceivers

open access: yes, 2008
The recent opening of unlicensed spectrum around 60 GHz has raised the interest in designing gigabit Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs). Since at 60 GHz the signal attenuation is strong, this band is basically suitable for short range wireless ...

Oxidized MoS2‐Based Multifunctional Memristive Hardware for Energy‐Efficient mmWave Signal Processing and In‐Memory Matrix Multiplication

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thermally oxidized MoS2‐based radio‐frequency switches enable a multifunctional platform that unifies broadband RF switching and in‐memory computation. The device achieves a cutoff frequency of 33.2 THz with high energy efficiency and supports hardware‐aware signal processing.

Twin Crystal Moiré Metasurfaces for Crossing Flat‐Band Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces twin crystal moiré metasurfaces, breaking in‐plane symmetry to enable reconfigurable acoustic wave manipulation. By adjusting the twin angle and interlayer twist angle, various combinations of hyperbolic, flat bands, and elliptic states can be synthesized in the system.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation over sensorimotor cortex disrupts anticipatory reflex gain modulation for skilled action

open access: yes, 2006
Skilled interactions with new environments require flexible changes to the transformation from somatosensory signals to motor outputs. Transcortical reflex gains are known to be modulated according to task and environmental dynamics, but the mechanism of

Designing Stable Periodic Magnetization Textures by Tailoring Anisotropies and Applying Geometrical Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores the possibility to design stable periodic magnetization textures by transforming a 2D film into a rolled‐up 3D architecture and back. In case of an isotropic exchange‐biased layer architecture, the magnetization encoded in the 3D state evolves into a spin‐spiral pattern with controlled periodicity after unrolling.

Developments in directional modulation technology

open access: yes, 2016
Directional modulation (DM), as a promising physical-layer security technique, is able to secure wireless communications by virtue of the property of its direction-dependent signal modulation format transmission. Here modulated signal waveform signatures
