Reconfigurable Magnetic Soft Microrobot for Acoustically Triggered Targeted Bacterial Sterilization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Reconfigurable magnetic soft microrobots integrate in situ‐grown piezoelectric zinc oxide nanorods that produce reactive oxygen species upon acoustic excitation. Combining magnetically guided transport with thermally induced planar reconfiguration, the microrobots achieve targeted delivery and enhanced bacterial sterilization through efficient on ...

The role of gravity on macrosegregation in alloys [PDF]

open access: yes
During dendritic solidification liquid flow is induced both by buoyancy forces and solidification shrinkage. There is strong evidence that the major reason for the liquid flow is the former, i.e., thermosolutal convection. In the microgravity environment,

Dual‐Functional Additive Regulating Zn2+ Solvation Structure and (002) Plane‐Oriented Deposition for Dendrite‐Free Zn Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfosalicylic acid (SSA) is introduced as a bifunctional additive for Aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. SSA reconstructs the solvation structure of Zn2+ through the synergistic effects of its multiple functional groups, suppressing side reactions while selectively promoting Zn (002) deposition to prevent dendrite formation.

Directional solidification of Pb-Sn eutectic with vibration [PDF]

open access: yes
Pb-Sn eutectic alloy was directionally solidified at 1.4 to 3.2 cm/hr with forced convection induced by axial vibration of the growth ampoule with a frequency of 10 to 40 Hz and an amplitude of 0.5 to 1.0 mm.

Electroactive Liquid Crystal Elastomers as Soft Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electroactive liquid crystal elastomers (eLCEs) can be actuated via electromechanical, electrochemical, or electrothermal effects. a) Electromechanical effects include Maxwell stress, electrostriction, and the electroclinic effect. b) Electrochemical effects arise from electrode redox reactions.

Directional solidification of Al2-Cu-Al and Al3-Ni-Al eutectics during TEXUS rocket flight [PDF]

open access: yes
One lamellar eutectic sample and one fiber-like eutectic sample were solidified directionally during the TEXUS-6 rocket flight. The microstructures and the results of the thermal analysis, obtained from the temperatures recorded on the cartridge skin ...

Roll‐to‐Roll Mechanical Exfoliation for Large‐Area van der Waals Films with Preserved Crystallographic Alignment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A roll‐to‐roll exfoliation method is demonstrated that preserves the crystallographic alignment of anisotropic 2D materials over large areas, enabling scalable fabrication of directional electronic and optoelectronic devices. Abstract Anisotropic 2D materials such as black phosphorus (BP), GeS or CrSBr, exhibit direction‐dependent optical and ...
