Separation of CsF from FLiNaK molten salt via directional solidification

open access: yesHe jishu
BackgroundFluoride molten salt servers as a coolant and fuel carrier in molten salt reactors (MSRs). Over time of operation, fuel composition of MSR includes uranium, thorium, fission products, and carrier salt.

Solidification Front of Oriented Ledeburite

open access: yesArchives of Foundry Engineering, 2016
Directional solidification of the Fe - 4,3 wt % C alloy was performed with the pulling rate equal to v=83 μm/s. Sample was frozen during solidification to reveal the shape of the solid/liquid interface.

Directional solidification of superalloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
This invention relates to the directional solidification of superalloys, in particular nickel-based superalloys, by imposition of a predetermined temperature profile in the solidification front and, depending on the desired results, a predetermined rate ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

High gradient directional solidification furnace [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
A high gradient directional solidification furnace is disclosed which includes eight thermal zones throughout the length of the furnace. In the hot end of the furnace, furnace elements provide desired temperatures.

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Microstructures and compressive properties of AlxCoCrFeNi high entropy alloys prepared by arc melting and directional solidification

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2022
The Al _x CoCrFeNi (molar radio, x = 0.6 and 1.2) high entropy alloys (HEAs) were prepared by arc melting and directional solidification at the withdrawal rate of 150 μ m s ^−1 .

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Thermodynamic Assessment of Mushy Zone in Directional Solidification

open access: yesArchives of Foundry Engineering, 2015
Solidification of AlSiFe alloys was studied using a directional solidification facility and the CALPHAD technique was applied to calculate phase diagrams and to predict occurring phases.

Method of growing composites of the type exhibiting the Soret effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
A predetermine amount of segregation is introduced into a molten sample of a composite that exhibits the Soret effect, such amount approximating the amount of segregation resulting from directional solidification of the sample.
