Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Directional Solidification of Sn-Cu6Sn5 In Situ Composites

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
The Sn-Cu system presents an important interest from academic and technological point of view because it is part of the family of alloys proposed as lead-free solder alloys for electronic components and also due to the mechanisms involved during the ...

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Directional solidification of Al–Cu–Ag alloy

open access: yesApplied Physics A, 2009
Al-Cu-Ag alloy was prepared in a graphite cru- cible under a vacuum atmosphere. The samples were direc- tionally solidified upwards under an argon atmosphere with different temperature gradients (G = 3.99-8.79 K/mm), at a constant growth rate (V = 8.30 µm/s), and with differ- ent growth rates (V = 1.83-498.25 µm/s), at a constant gradient (G = 8.79 K ...

Glissile Interphase Boundaries Enable Collective Phase Switching in Epitaxial Polar Oxides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A triple point is identified in the phase diagram of low‐symmetry epitaxial BiFeO3 thin film along with an extended regime of phase competition associated with a flattened energy landscape. The electromechanical response is shown to be governed by correlated interphase‐boundary motion, including scale‐free avalanche dynamics characteristic of systems ...

X-ray Diffraction Study of Directional Solidification Ledeburite

open access: yesArchives of Foundry Engineering, 2015
Directionally solidified sample of Fe-Fe3C eutectic alloy were produced under an argon atmosphere in a vacuum Bridgman-type furnace to study the eutectic growth with ν = 167 μm/s pulling rate and constant temperature gradient G = 33.5 K/mm. Since how the

Chiral Phase Change Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates reversible, non‐volatile phase transitions in chiral Ge2${\rm Ge}_2$Sb2${\rm Sb}_2$Te5${\rm Te}_5$ (GST) nanohelices for high‐speed optical modulation of chirality and dynamic control of the state of polarization (SOP). The chiral nanostructures are fabricated using a highly directional, wafer‐scale physical vapor deposition ...

The efect of cooling rate on the properties of alloyed cast-iron sizing roll [PDF]

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2010
Directional heat transfer was investigated by temperature measurements in the casting and in the mould using thermocouples. Measurements were performed in operating conditions during pouring, solidification, and cooling of the casting.
