Castability of directionally solidified nickel base superalloys
Materials Science and Technology, 1999AbstractGrain boundary cracking during directional solidification of columnar grained nickel base superalloys has been investigated. A quantitative test has been developed that allows a classification of the castability of directionally solidified nickel base superalloys: CM247LC showed excellent castability, while IN792 showed severe cracking.

An Anisotropic Constitutive Model for a Directionally Solidified Superalloy
Key Engineering Materials, 2007The monotonic tensile and creep deformations of a directionally solidified (DS) superalloy are investigated for several loading directions. The material exhibits remarkable anisotropy under elastic and creep loading conditions, whereas it shows isotropy under loading conditions of high strain rates.

Recrystallization in a directionally solidified cobalt-base superalloy
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2008The recrystallization behavior in a range of annealing temperature from 1020 to 1280 degrees C in a directionally solidified cobalt-base superalloy was studied. Local recrystallization first appeared at 1040 degrees C. The recrystallized volume increased rapidly as increasing the annealing temperature. Pinning effect of all carbides (M23C6, M7C3 and MC)

Directionally Solidified and Single-Crystal Superalloys
1990Abstract Directionally solidified (DS) and single-crystal (SX) superalloys and process technology are contributing to significant advances in turbine engine efficiency and durability. These gains are expected to arise from the development of higher creep strength and improved oxidation-resistant SX alloy compositions as well as from ...

Creep-rupture behavior of a directionally solidified nickel-base superalloy
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2001The creep-rupture behavior of the directionally solidified (DS) nickel-base superalloy DZ17G has been investigated over a wide stress range of 60 to 950 MPa at high temperature (923 to 1323 K). In this article, the detailed creep deformation and fracture mechanisms at constant load have been studied.

CYCLIC DEFORMATION OF A DIRECTIONALLY SOLIDIFIED COBALT‐BASE SUPERALLOY
Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 1998An investigation has been carried out on the cyclic deformation and changes in microstructure of a directionally solidified cobalt‐base superalloy. The tests are conducted at 700 °C and 850 °C in air under different total strain amplitudes. The alloy tested at 700 °C exhibits an initial hardening, a short saturation stage and an evident secondary ...

Creep behavior of a directionally solidified nickel based superalloy
Strength, Fracture and Complexity: An International Journal, 2006Directionally solidified nickel-base superalloys provide significant improvements relative to the limitations inherent to equiaxed materials in the areas of creep resistance, oxidation, and low and high cycle fatigue resistance. The objectives of this study are to perform critical experiments and investigate the high temperature creep deformation ...
