Dendrite spacings in directionally solidified superalloy PWA-1480
Abstract Primary dendrite spacings and side-branch coarsening kinetics were examined in specimens of the single-crystal multicomponent commercial superalloy PWA-1480, which were directionally solidified in a positive thermal gradient. The experimentally observed dependence of primary dendrite spacings and side-branch coarsening kinetics on growth ...

Atomic-scale grain boundary engineering to overcome hot-cracking in additively-manufactured superalloys [PDF]
There are still debates regarding the mechanisms that lead to hot cracking in parts build by additive manufacturing (AM) of non-weldable Ni-based superalloys.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Transient liquid phase bonding of Ni3Al based superalloy using Mn–Ni–Cr filler
A new 70Mn–25Ni–5Cr (wt. %) filler with no traditional melting-point depressants (MPDs) of Si/B was used for transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding a directionally solidified (DS) superalloy based on Ni3Al intermetallic compound (IMC) at 1150 °C, a ...
