Effect of Melt Superheating Treatment on the Microstructures and Purity of a Directionally Solidified Superalloy

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
In this paper, the effects and the mechanisms of melt superheating treatment (MST) on a directionally solidified alloy were investigated. The mass loss rate of the superalloy becomes severe as the MST temperature rises.

Effect of Co content on microstructure and stress rupture properties of DD15 single crystal superalloy

open access: yesJournal of Aeronautical Materials, 2020
DD15 single crystal superalloys with 9%Co and 12%Co were prepared in a directionally solidified furnace. By keeping the other alloying element contents unchanged, the influence of Co content on the microstructure, phase stability and stress rupture ...

Dendrite spacings in directionally solidified superalloy PWA-1480

open access: yesMaterials Science and Engineering: A, 1991
Abstract Primary dendrite spacings and side-branch coarsening kinetics were examined in specimens of the single-crystal multicomponent commercial superalloy PWA-1480, which were directionally solidified in a positive thermal gradient. The experimentally observed dependence of primary dendrite spacings and side-branch coarsening kinetics on growth ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Microstructure and stress rupture properties of polycrystal and directionally solidified castings of nickel-based superalloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A new directionally solidified Ni-based superalloy DZ24, which is a modification of K24 alloy without rare and expensive elemental additions, such as Ta and Hf, was studied in this paper. The microstructure and stress rupture properties of conventionally
