4th International Conference on Antenna Theory and Techniques (Cat. No.03EX699), 2004
Using quite general concepts as guidance in the design of an antenna for short pulse transmission and reception, a new type of horn-antenna has been devised. A certain variety of experimental data obtained by the antenna are presented.

This paper presents the work carried out to assess the feasibility of miniature directive antennas. It is based on an analysis of the physical limits of antenna directivity in general and in particular as a function of their compact dimensions. A state of the art is done to identify and classify techniques to increase the directivity of compact ...

Planar, directive, X band antennas were constructed with wide microstrips printed on phainolic paper substrates. Every microstrip functions as a cavity with loses due to radiation from the slots formed between their wide edjes and the earth plane. A number of approximations, mentioned below, form the theory of their opperation. A way is given to cancel

EBG SUPERSTRATES FOR DIRECTIVITY ENHANCEMENT OF ANTENNAS
2011"Electromagnetic Band-Gap (EBG) materials are periodic structures. with properties of confinement and filtering of electromagnetic. radiation. In this work, EBGs with a simple geometry are considered,. as periodic one-dimensional multilayers, and their design is presented.. When the periodicity of such structures is interrupted, evanescent.

Directivity of planar antennas
IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, 1999Starting with a common formula for directivity, given beamwidths, the author gives the modifications needed to improve the accuracy when the distribution is known. Also included is a nomograph that shows the parameters of the Taylor single-parameter distribution, and allows trade studies versus the sidelobe level.

Directional antenna for radiomodems
13th International Crimean Conference Microwave and Telecommunication Technology, 2003. CriMiCo 2003., 2003A reflector antenna for digital data transmission systems using 2.4...2.485 GHz radiomodems has been designed. The SWR, input impedance and directional characteristics have been calculated. Experimental studies of the antenna are described.

High-directivity antenna with small antenna aperture
Applied Physics Letters, 2009We show in this letter that, by using an inhomogeneous metamaterial shell, it is possible to achieve highly directive emission with a small antenna aperture. The material parameters of the metamaterial substrate are obtained by a nonmonotonic optical transformation.

2016 XXIst International Seminar/Workshop on Direct and Inverse Problems of Electromagnetic and Acoustic Wave Theory (DIPED), 2016
The analytical expressions are obtained, and the method of calculating directional patterns of thin antennas with large dimensions was proposed. Directivity of dipoles, V-dipoles and in-phase radiators of similar types were calculated. The importance of accounting the magnitude PF for the estimate of a communication range was demonstrated.

Direct feed biconical antenna as a reference antenna
2011 IEEE International RF & Microwave Conference, 2011Antenna factor is the main parameter in EMC measurement. Therefore, accurate and low uncertainty antenna is important in order to gain a reliable antenna factor. Direct feed biconical antenna has low uncertainty because balun can be eliminated in the design. Furthermore, the biconical antenna has fix phase center.

A Planar, Differential, and Directive Ultrawideband Antenna
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2010A novel planar differential ultrawideband antenna is described and both numerically and experimentally characterized. The proposed antenna is formed by two disc monopoles fed by 50-Ohm microstrip lines with a structured ground plane. Simulations and measurements demonstrate that it is possible to achieve a huge increase in directionality with respect ...
