Near-zero-index-featured multi-band highly directional radiator with large Purcell factors
Near-zero-index medium could be used to produce perfect planar wave beams, allowing for the design of compact antennas, but implementation is difficult due to the bandwidth and loss limitations.

Directive Emission from Defect-Free Dodecagonal Photonic Quasicrystals: A Leaky-Wave Characterization [PDF]
In this paper, we study the radiation from embedded sources in two-dimensional finite-size "photonic-quasicrystal" (PQC) slabs made of dielectric rods arranged according to a 12-fold symmetric aperiodic tiling.

Performance of hemielliptic dielectric lens antennas with optimal edge illumination [PDF]
The role of edge illumination in the performance of compact-size dielectric lens antennas (DLAs) is studied in accurate manner using a highly efficient algorithm based on the combination of the Muller boundary integral equations and the method of ...

Leaky-Wave antennas with arbitrary radiation based on bianisotropic Huygens’ metasurfaces [PDF]
In this contribution, we present the application of Huygens’ metasurfaces (HMS) to the arbitrary design of leaky-wave antennas (LWAs). These metasurfaces have demonstrated their capabiity to tailor the electromagnetic waves at will. We use them to design

Manipulating the directivity of antennas with metamaterial
In this paper we use spatially variant metamaterial substrate to manipulate the directivity of antennas. We show theoretically that by embedding a dipole at different locations inside this substrate, the emitted rays can be directed to different orientations as required.

Antennas with controlled directivity patterns [PDF]
The current methods and devices for correcting and controlling the directivity patterns of metal whip and loop reconfigurable antennas, as well as plasma and electron beam reconfigurable antennas are investigated. It is proposed to solve the problem of effective correction and control of antenna directivity patterns by changing their design and ...

Directive properties of active coated nano-particles
The directivities of the fields radiated by a variety of cylindrical and spherical active coated nano-particles, which are excited by their respective sources of illumination at optical frequencies, are investigated.

Electronic Beam-Scanning Antenna Based on a Reconfigurable Phase-Modulated Metasurface
Metasurfaces (MSs) have enabled the emergence of new ideas and solutions in the design of antennas and for the control of electromagnetic waves. In this work, we propose to design a directional high-gain reconfigurable planar antenna based on a phase ...
