The Marv Hoard of Early Islamic Dirhams

Au debut des annees 80, les ruines d'un caravanserail medieval situe au sud de la ville de Gyaur-kala (Turkmenistan) revelerent, lors de leur demolition, deux tresors composes de pieces d'argent. Le premier tresor fut disperse, et seul un dirham omeyyade date de l'an 101 de l'hegire fut sauve.

Analysis of Abbasid Dirhams Using XRF Techniques

Five ancient dirhams (silver coins) from the Abbasid period 158–218 Hirji (775–833 AD) of the Great Islamic Empire were analysed using x-ray fluorescence techniques. The dirhams were found to have compositions ranging from about 41 to 84 wt% Ag. In addition to Ag, the major constituents of the dirhams, with concentrations of 1% or more, were Hg, Pb, Au,

В статье рассматривается худжистанидский дирхам, чеканенный в Нисабуре в 268 г. х. (881/882 г.) и найденный в 2011 г. при раскопках на Рюриковом городище. Эта редкая и красивая по оформлению монета обязана своим происхождением бурным историческим событиям, имевшим место в 870–880-е гг. в Хорасане.

The Telavi Hoard of Clipped Umayyad Dirhams

This study examines a hoard of clipped Umayyad dirhams discovered in 2022 in the environs of Telavi, a city in eastern Georgia. The hoard comprised only Umayyad dirhams, reportedly numbering between 20 and 25, including: Dimashq – 2 (11.8%); Wāsiṭ – 11 (64.7%); Al-Kūfah – 1 (5.9%); Al-Baṣrah – 2 (11.8%); Fīl (a rare mint of unknown location) – 1 (5.9%).

The Circulation of North African Dirhams in Northern Mesopotamia – The Dirham Hoard of Tall al-Bīʿa/al-Raqqa (t.p.q. 186/802)

The Tall al-Bī ʿ a hoard of ten silver dirhams and one copper coin (t. p. q. 186) probably constitutes a cash deposit drawn from circulation in the urban market of al-Raqqa. It seems to be a negative selection. The hoard reflects the preponderance of the North African dirhams in circulation at the time of Hārūn al-Rashīd.
