Quantifying Model Selection Uncertainty in Structural Analysis: Methodology and Application
ABSTRACT With increasing focus on complex engineering systems under rare events, computational models are critical for predictions due to the scarcity or absence of data. However, selecting an appropriate model can be challenging. Using a single model without available test calibration could result in significant bias in performance predictions. A case

Nonvanishing of quadratic Dirichlet L-functions at s=1/2
We show that for a positive proportion of fundamental discriminants d, L(1/2,chi_d) != 0. Here chi_d is the primitive quadratic Dirichlet character of conductor d.Comment: 42 pages, published ...

Irrationality of values of L‐functions of Dirichlet characters [PDF]
In a recent paper with Sprang and Zudilin, the following result was proved: if $a$ is large enough in terms of $\varepsilon>0$, then at least $2^{(1-\varepsilon)\frac{\log a}{\log \log a}}$ values of the Riemann zeta function at odd integers between $3$ and $a$ are irrational.

Mine‐water immersion tests reveal pronounced coal weakening (vs. minor concrete degradation), identifying coal pillars as the stability‐limiting component in composite dams. A coupled FEINN framework quantifies extreme‐pressure stability and ranks multi‐parameter designs via a normalized multi‐indicator scheme, enabling optimized dam configuration for ...

Calculation of the Electric Field and of the Parameters Of Controlled Self Compensating Power Lines 110 kV Line Using the Finite Volume Method [PDF]
The paper studies the problem of calculating the electric field of the 110kV electric lines of CSCPL (Controlled Self Compensating Power Lines) type. The potential of electrical conductors is determined by a system of equations for voltages taking into ...

Fekete polynomials of principal Dirichlet characters
Fekete polynomials associated to quadratic Dirichlet characters have interesting arithmetic properties, and have been studied in many works. In this paper, we study a seemingly simpler yet rich variant: the Fekete polynomial F_n(x) = ∑_a=1^n χ_n(a) x^a associated to a principal Dirichlet character χ_n of modulus n. We investigate the cyclotomic factors

Local Polynomial Regression and Filtering for a Versatile Mesh‐Free PDE Solver
A high‐order, mesh‐free finite difference method for solving differential equations is presented. Both derivative approximation and scheme stabilisation is carried out by parametric or non‐parametric local polynomial regression, making the resulting numerical method accurate, simple and versatile. Numerous numerical benchmark tests are investigated for
