Serological diagnosis of subcutaneous dirofilariosis
Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, 1995We present serological evidence that Dirofilaria immitis was the causative agent of subcutaneous nodules in two patients. ELISA and enzyme-linked immunoblot analysis showed that the two human sera had a reactivity pattern similar to that of D. immitis rabbit immune serum.

Zoonoses and Public Health, 2010SummaryHuman dirofilariosis is a relatively rare infection caused by filarial worms of the genus Dirofilaria. We herein report the first case of human subcutaneous dirofilariosis in the southeastern part of Serbia. A complete alive nematode was removed from a nodule in the periorbital region of a 50‐year‐old woman.

Seroprevalence of canine dirofilariosis in South Korea
Veterinary Parasitology, 2003Eight-hundred and forty eight dogs (480 females and 368 males) not on chemoprophylaxis were examined for Dirofilaria immitis infection from 2001 to 2002. Three-hundred and thirty nine (40.0%) of 848 samples tested with antigen detecting ELISA kits showed positive reaction for D. immitis antigen.
